Director, End-User Marketing
Job Description
PayIt is a fast-growing GovTech company on a mission to modernize how residents interact and transact with government, improving the customer experience and helping our client agencies become more efficient. Our easy-to-implement platform consolidates hundreds of services and payments into one connected experience and enables our clients to drive resident trust, collect revenue quickly, and redeploy their staff to more important challenges.Â
This innovative approach to government service delivery has garnered significant recognition in both the public and private sectors:Â
- GovTech 100 (2017-2023)
- Fast Company Innovation in Design Award (2019)
- LocalSmart Awards (2020)
- Smart 50 Award (2021)
Our culture welcomes people who exhibit what we call “PayIt DNA”: High integrity, drive, grit, high aptitude, and team orientation. We are collaborative and passionate about the work we do to improve the lives of our government clients and the end users they serve. We have ambitious scaling goals, and we look for team members who are ready to roll up their sleeves, solve problems, and find new opportunities to win with our clients. And we have a lot of fun together.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Director of End-User Marketing is a critical link between PayIt, our government agency clients, and the consumers who use PayIt to transact with those agencies. The person in this role leads the team who designs and executes marketing campaigns that drive end-user adoption of our government agency clients’ digital services and payments programs.Â
Success in this role means that our clients achieve or exceed ambitious goals to shift volume away from paper-based and in-person payment processes and into digital interactions. It is both a strategic leadership opportunity and a hands-on executional role.
The Director of End-User Marketing works in close partnership with our client success managers to become a trusted advisor to our clients on marketing strategy, execution, and outcomes measurement. Our government-agency clients are the experts in their communities and their operations, but they rely on us to bring know-how about digital payment channels and consumer marketing, and to execute campaigns on their behalf. They are strapped for time and often lack resources to execute adoption campaigns themselves. This is a great opportunity to do creative and exciting marketing work while delivering on a compelling mission at a company with a fantastic culture.
The selected candidate is ready to engage with and build trusting relationships with our clients. They will bring experience designing, executing, and measuring multi-channel consumer marketing strategies and ensuring that the various executional elements of realizing those strategies are completed on time, within budget, and at the highest level of quality. They will have a passion for our mission to modernize government interactions and are energized by enabling our customers to exceed their goals.Â
Responsibilities
- Build productive relationships with key stakeholders in our client accounts to unlock enthusiasm for and collaboration on end-user marketing strategies
- Conduct effective discovery to understand clients’ adoption goals, channels of communication, brand presentation, and unique challenges
- Be a trusted advisor about effective campaign strategies, messaging, branding, and channel selection that will achieve the client’s adoption goals (while recognizing their constraints)
- Secure alignment on campaign briefs, feedback, approvals, and allocation of needed resources
- Design and execute marketing campaigns in partnership with our clients, ensuring that all assets meet high standards for accessibility and conversion
- Report campaign results and help sell in optimizations and follow-on adoption programs
- Manage a team responsible for delivery of end-user adoption marketing programs
- Design and implement processes to ensure high-quality on-time delivery, budget adherence, and balance team capacity
- Develop a strong understanding of our product and how our clients use it; flag product changes or enhancements that could unlock additional adoptionÂ
- Serve as a key member of the marketing leadership team, helping us achieve our overall growth objectives as a business and contributing your expertise to improve our team operations and outcomes
Attributes, Experience and Skills
- At least 7 years of total experience in a marketing role, with at least some of that time targeting consumer audiences
- At least 2 years managing and coaching people, ideally in a marketing function
- Command of marketing strategy including functional knowledge of a wide range of campaign modalities and their ideal uses — even if you are not an expert in all of them — social and influencer marketing, digital and out-of-home advertising, direct mail, event activations, web, email marketing, earned media, etc.
- Expert relationship skills - you can demonstrate how you will work effectively with clients to build trust, conduct discovery, ensure alignment, overcome objections, and unlock collaboration (come prepared with examples)
- Strong “test-and-learn” orientation to campaign design and optimization, as well as command of key metrics such as conversion rates, CAC, and ROI
- You are able to set aside jargon and marketing speak so our non-marketer clients and internal teams readily understand the key principles of acquisition marketing and how specific tactics contribute to the achievement of their goals
- Demonstrated ability to learn the business drivers and dynamics of PayIt and that of the clients we serve Â
- You are a culture amplifier and force multiplier in everything you do - your contributions will make PayIt an even better place to work and help the people around you grow
- You embody a “no job too big or too small” attitude - you are ready to roll up your sleeves in a lean, scrappy team while also operating strategically
- Travel estimate is 20-25% within US and Canada
Why Work For Us:
- Our most important resource is our people. We value your feedback and have a unique environment where collaboration and bottom-up feedback about the problems we are solving is critical to our daily success.
