Director, Engineering Cost Management, Pixel

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience working with build and material costs for consumer electronics, supply chains, and contract manufacturers.
• Experience in cost management on consumer electronics.
• Experience working in a cross-functional environment and driving operational initiatives with business partnering.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in supply chain operations, financial planning and analysis, management consulting, or a similar environment.

In this role, you will act as a partner to our Engineering, Operations, and other cross-functional leadership on every product we build. You will bring your expertise on material costs and analytical ability to provide clear and actionable insight on how to design for optimal costs while delivering the product goals.

You will identify opportunities and risks, and ensure that our costs are being optimized. You will be responsible for communicating insights, opportunities, and recommendations to all internal stakeholders. Externally, you will have relationships with our suppliers to understand the trade-offs across cost, yield, and design. You will help ensure we are engineering the product in a cost conscious way while maintaining the goal for the product performance and quality.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Hardware Engineering Cost Director for all bill and non-bill of material (BOM) related costs for every phone and ecosystem product.
• Drive actionable analysis and provide realizable recommendations for cost reduction opportunities, building cross-functional teams to brainstorm and analyze opportunities, investment prioritization, and drive generational efficiency improvements.
• Partner with Product Engineering Directors and VPs, and Operations and Supply Chain leaders to ensure Google's optimizing materials and costs with suppliers.
• Oversee the development and tracking of accurate material costs for every aspect of each product we build.
• Partner and collaborate with teams researching industry components and decisions. Ensure learnings and benchmarks are incorporated into program decisions. Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership.
