Job Description
The Director - Product Management, Advice Program Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversight in creating a strong program and project management model to effectively engage business stakeholders and execution partners in the overall Advice strategy and position.
This position will focus on ensuring that the program/project management experience is consistent across all business stakeholders including Institutional and Retail Products, Distribution and Risk, Advisory and Oversight as well as technology partners. Through the establishment of effective program/project management processes and protocols, this role will drive a clear and consistent communications with all business stakeholders to ensure alignment to TIAA's strategic priorities and business outcomes
The Director - Product Management, Advice Program Manager will define standard processes focused on, but not limited to, intake of new requests, prioritization, meeting cadence and protocols, to effectively implement and delivery strategic business outcomes. This role will also be a key influencer with the Business Management team to assist in the appropriate level of governance of strategic and regulatory initiatives along with Advice execution partners including, User Experience, Client Experience, Marketing and Technology.
This position will assist in the overall assessment of the competitive strengths and weaknesses of TIAA's advice strategy and platform transformation and will support the balance of incoming requests with the strategic advice roadmap that positions TIAA ahead of its major competitors. This roadmap will incorporate where we can build consistent advice experiences through technology innovation and across distribution channels.
The Director - Product Management, Advice Program Manager will bring both strategic vision and planning skills to this role, as well as monitoring execution by working closely and providing leadership to our product development teams. The ideal candidate for this role enjoys and has the capability to help set strategic vision, plan through road-mapping and requirements articulation, AND, drive a consistent vision for execution and implementation in partnership with business stakeholders, execution partners, program governance, and product owners.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain good relationships with business stakeholders and execution partners so that the Advice team can maximize the value of those relationships.
- Identify key contacts across business stakeholders and execution partners to establish and foster relationships.
- Lead and participate in regular meetings with business stakeholders and execution partners to explain advice strategy and positioning to guide their choices.
- Understand the problems and challenges of business stakeholders and identify ways that Advice could better address those needs.
- Monitor and assess the activities of our competitors to proactively influence the Advice roadmap.
- Provide excellent partnership to maintain a positive reputation for Advice.
- Resolve any business stakeholders promptly and professionally.
- Process mapping and design.
- Business case creation and support.
- Develop standard processes focused on, but not limited to, intake of new requests, prioritization, meeting cadence and communication protocols.
- Develop a team of associates to provide specific points of contacts for business stakeholders.
- Work with key team members to provide a direction to UX, CX, Marking and IT Development teams to ensure alignment to a consistent advice strategy.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director supporting the Enterprise Advice Initiatives and Oversight group will provide strategic leadership in creating a strong process for managing initiatives that impact advice within the broader context of the enterprise as well as engage with Legal, Risk, Compliance and Oversight partners to ensure compliance with regulations and business policies.
This position will focus on ensuring that the management of the Advice Experiences and Strategy portfolio of work is being consistently driven the group in support of Digital and Client Experience, Institutional and Retail Products, Distribution and Risk, Advisory and Oversight as well as technology partners. Through the establishment of effective processes and protocols, this role will drive a clear and consistent communications with all Legal, Risk, Compliance and Oversight (LRCO) business stakeholders to ensure alignment to TIAA's strategic priorities and business outcomes

This role will also be a key influencer with the Business Management team to assist in the appropriate level of governance of strategic and regulatory initiatives along with Advice execution partners including, the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO) and LRCO
The Director supporting the Enterprise Advice Initiatives and Oversight group will bring both strategic vision and planning skills to this role, as well as monitoring execution by working closely and providing leadership to our product development teams. The ideal candidate for this role enjoys and has the capability to help set strategic vision, and drive a consistent vision for LRCO alignment and execution in partnership with stakeholders, execution partners, program governance, and product owners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
This role requires an individual with a diverse array of Product Development skills, including the ability to perform or direct the following types of activities:
- Maintain good relationships with OCAO and LRCO business stakeholders so that the Advice team can maximize the value of those relationships
- Identify key contacts across OCAO and LRCO business stakeholders to establish and foster relationships
- Lead and participate in regular meetings with OCAO and LRCO business to explain advice strategy and positioning to guide their choices aligning with regulatory and business policy objectives
- Understand the problems and challenges of OCAO and LRCO business stakeholders and identify ways that Advice could better address those needs
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and Risk teams supporting D&CX, on new laws and regulatory developments, including those applicable to digital advice, educational tools and other financial wellness solutions
- Provide excellent partnership to maintain a positive reputation for Advice
- Resolve any business stakeholders promptly and professionally
- Business case creation and support
- Develop a team of associates to provide specific points of contacts for business stakeholders
- Work with key team members to provide a direction to Product Management and IT Development teams to ensure alignment with regulatory and business policy objectives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-7+ years' experience working in Retail Financial Services
- 5-7+ years web-based product development experience in the financial services space
- Intuitive to business stakeholder needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Strategic thinker and ability to analyze and solve problems quickly
- Attentive to detail and organized
- Must be self-motivated, flexible and able to manage several jobs at one time
- Experience working in the Advice space, including distribution service models, on-line tools, and managed accounts
- Experience partnering with and providing direction to product management staff.
- Bachelor's Degree required
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the securities and ERISA (fiduciary advice and plan data matters) laws, rules and regulations governing the offering of digital advice and financial wellness solutions is preferable
- Possesses strong consensus building skills - experienced at working with numerous stakeholders across multiple departments. Experienced at managing within a matrix organization.
- Superior verbal communication skills / presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of the Advice space - planning tools, advice tools, and on-going regulatory initiatives
TRAVEL:
This position requires up to 25% domestic travel
Related Skills
Base Pay Range: $123,800/yr. - $206,300/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
