The role holder is an Enterprise Architect for Platform & Integration Domain Director in the Global Tech Enterprise Architecture function at GSK reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture. The role holder will be an evangelist for the Platform & Integration domain solutions and services offered by the Global Tech organisation. The individual will build relationships with Tech, Business, Product, Application and Data leaders, understand the challenges and needs of the business, and provide strategic guidance & oversight to the technical teams to meet the needs of the business effectively.

The Enterprise Architect for Platform & Integration Domain Director plays an integral role in defining and assessing the GSK organization's platform & integration domain strategy, architecture and practices. The Enterprise architect will be required to effectively translate business objectives and platform strategies into specific enterprise/business solutions enabled by emerging platform/integration technologies and services.

The Enterprise Architect for Platform & Integration Domain Director will focus on the enterprise platforms & integration technologies layer across all of Tech, driving strategy and execution. This will ensure a seamless and connected set of enterprise platforms across the Technology groups. The leader will also research, prioritize, and experiment with emerging platform, technology and solutions.

The Enterprise Platform & Integration Director will collaborate with GSK's business, enterprise & BU applications, data, infrastructure and cybersecurity teams, in areas such as SAAS and platform products like ERP, Supply Chain, ServiceNow, Concur, Workday, Workplace and Cloud technologies, (on-prem, public hybrid and multi-cloud). His/her expertise will also enable architecture community to support the design, deployment and success of platform & integration solutions used by the GSK organisation, and more.

  • The primary responsibility of this role is to define/execute the technical adoption plan for the platform across multiple systems within the enterprise, enabling the application team's effective and efficient adoption of the platform.
  • This role will lead and work across multiple business functions to define and gain consensus on future state solutions using Enterprise Platforms.
  • Be a technical thought leader and a dependable partner for the executive and senior managers of one or more Enterprise Platforms, helping them define the technology strategy/roadmaps and execute the roadmap in a cost-effective but quality-conscious manner using the technology platform(s) to achieve a business outcome.
  • Drive strategic thinking and technical oversight of technology platforms to enable business teams and application and infrastructure teams to build and expand business capabilities for current and future needs of GSK Tech platforms for new GSK.
  • Engage with both management and delivery teams leading Enterprise level platform and integration efforts that involve large scale industry product platforms and how they are adopted within GSK
  • Design Enterprise Platforms to have high availability/performance, seamless integration (loosely coupled), high quality/reliability, and user-focused adoption models/frameworks while ensuring the platform helps protect our business data and the privacy of our customers.
  • Define platform-level roadmaps and collaborate with technology leaders across the enterprise to align their portfolio-level roadmap and application-level roadmap with enterprise platform roadmaps.
  • Help portfolio leaders and application owners proactively plan and address technical debt, security risks, and technology upkeep related to the use of the platform across the enterprise.
  • Prioritize and develop the overall domain level architectures that unify and integrate multiple SAAS and Platform products like ERP, Supply Chain, ServiceNow, Concur, Workday, Workplace and others like it;
  • Sets technical direction for Enterprise Platforms designs and implementations that enables growth, simplifies integrations while actualizing the realization of the future state reference architecture;
  • Engages with delivery streams throughout the implementation process to ensure alignment with EA guiding principles and business outcomes;
  • Lead the development of an implementation plan for the enterprise platform & integration architectures based on business/IT strategy and requirements;
  • Ensure the role of EA in the project and product governance setting is one of guidance, advice, and oversight. Help the enterprise find the right balance between enterprise risk and agility. Step up and communicates key EA positions to business and IT leaders to get buy-in and mandate;
  • Influence / coach enterprise architecture on modern evolutionary platform architecture principles and practices
  • Establish technology architecture roadmaps, reference and target architecture, architectural and design principles, best practices, patters, and standards, oversee adherence to defined platform & integration architecture principles and standards
  • Work with senior business executives, vendors, and other senior technology leaders. Acts as a trusted advisor in identifying long term platform & integration domain visions and communicates the value of EA across the organisation.
  • Work with the GP&T and BU technology groups to develop and lead best practices for enterprise platform & integration technologies.
  • Enforces architecture governance structures and compliance activities to maintain regulatory compliance and enterprise standards

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise/solution technology architecture for enterprise platform/ systems, infrastructure, integration, cloud, hosting and shared technology services.
  • 5+ years of experience as Enterprise platform & Integration domain architect using cloud technologies, Azure, O365 & GCP public cloud, ERP, & SaaS, IPaaS and Application Integrations
  • Minimum of 4 years of management experience working in a matrix organization organizing and managing large teams is required
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, such as healthcare, financial services, or biotech is strongly desired
  • Excellent people leadership qualities in both a direct and matrix organisation.
  • Experienced in 3rd party vendor management.
  • Experience with public cloud; design and implementation, automation & security across IaaS and PaaS architypes.
  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks;
  • Experience in DevOps, Agile development and extensive use of micro services and containerization


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Master's degree or above preferred
  • Should have demonstrated an exceptional grasp of corporate strategy
  • Must have a history of providing vision and leadership
  • Able to demonstrate technical breadth across Enterprise Technology portfolio.
  • Excellent cross-functional planning and execution.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management
  • Understanding of regulations that impact the consumer health industry (e.g., GxP, GDPR / Schrems, Sarbanes Oxley).
  • Understanding of IPaaS, ERP platform, core technology platform & Integration, hardware & operational technology in R&D, Vaccine, manufacturing and supply chain environments.
  • Any of the following a bonus: Cloud Architect Certifications (Azure, GCP). ITIL / Agile/Product certifications.
