Director, ESG
Job Description
*This role is remote*
- Supports on one or more client ESG accounts, and may directly manage some client accounts
- Develops and implements customized ESG solutions and services, overseeing successful execution and maintaining high standards of quality control
- Writing ESG content for ESG reports, ESG communications packages, ESG client presentation, talking points and resources for C-suite clients
- Manages priorities and delegates to colleagues on account teams
- Drafts and reviews technical ESG tools and materials
- Conducts research projects on a wide range of ESG topics
- Stays abreast of changes to ESG ratings, frameworks, regulations and thought leadership by regularly monitoring news and media
- Rapidly assimilates the basics of investor relations, investment, finance, biotech and life sciences to deliver integrated ESG + IR solutions to biotech and life sciences clients
- Gains familiarity with ESG databases and tools to gather and analyze financial and sustainability information on biotech firms and investors
- Manages the planning and execution of ESG content for roadshows, meetings and other investor events
- Manages relationships with relevant contacts on Wall Street and the ESG community
- On-site event support and occasional travel
- Manages/supports various initiatives at Stern IR (networking, company newsletter, etc.)
Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
- Bachelors’ degree
- Minimum of 4 years relevant experience working with corporate clients in an advising or consulting role; one of those years should be working directly with clients on ESG
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with C-level executives
- Familiarity with key ESG components—frameworks, rating agencies, regulations, materiality, reporting and disclosure
- Interest in biotech/life sciences and/or investment/finance
- Strong analytics, research, writing and oral communications skills
- Ability to communicate and present materials and concepts in a clear, effective and persuasive manner
- Ability to effectively manage assigned team members
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects from conception to completion on deadline in a fast-paced team environment

Preferred:
- Prior work experience providing ESG services to biotech and/or life sciences firms
- Prior work experience in investor relations, biotech, life sciences, consulting, banking, regulatory or financial services
- Exposure to ESG, investment, finance, investor relations, regulatory, biotech or life sciences in the European context
- Intermediate Excel and PPT skills
- Leadership experience, including network and relationship building
- Involvement in initiatives, organizations and/or volunteer work dedicated to some aspect of social and/or environmental sustainability
