Director - FINANCE & HUMAN RESOURCES

Spectrum Technologies, located in Aurora, IL is a developer of innovative field measurement technology solutions which are designed to provide information to growers, consultants, researchers and others and are sold throughout the world.

Reporting to the CEO, this position is responsible for Accounting/Finance, IT and Human Resources for the company. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage the Accounting & Finance functions for the organization – including account reconciliations, financial analysis, cash management, and sales forecasting.
• Responsible for accurate, timely month-end reports to the CEO and to applicable business unit personnel.
• Manage banking and external tax preparer relationships.
• Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff
• Complete responsibility for Human Resources– including payroll processing, performance review management, hire-to-retire employee relations, and all recruiting & benefits administration initiatives.
• Key member of the executive management team, working closely with the CEO, VP-Product Development and VP-Sales & Marketing to ensure that the company’s goals are being met.
• Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the departments goals and objectives.
• Coordinate financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 10 years’ experience as a Controller in a multinational company, particularly with experience in manufacturing. 
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
• Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
• Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, small team environment.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• High-energy self-starter as well as collaborative team player.
• Effective, strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is required.
