Position Summary
Directs the preparation, review and submission/distribution of all required external financial and statistical reports for Xcel Energy and utility subsidiary operating companies to various federal and state regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as well as numerous state regulatory agencies. Reports include, but are not limited to, quarterly earnings releases to shareholders, the SEC Form 10K's, 10Q's and 8K's, and the FERC Form 1 and 3. Responsible for financial and statistical report preparation as required by internal management, securities analysts, investors and industry groups. Primary liaison with Company's independent auditors as part to the financial reporting processes. Directs and oversees the review and interpretation of new and proposed accounting regulations and determines the impact and compliance needs of the Company and its subsidiaries. Oversees complex accounting and financial research for various proposed transactions, providing recommendations and anticipated implications, including those related to financial reporting. Includes providing recommendations as to the most effective accounting treatment of complex transactions. Provides key assistance in securities issuances for common stock and debt of the Company and and/or the utility subsidiaries, as well as special projects within the Chief Financial Officer's organization.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the preparation, review and submission/distribution of various external financial reports for the Company and utility subsidiaries to the SEC, FERC, ERISA/DOL, regulators, lenders, media, financial analysts, and shareholders. Ensures compliance with various reporting and accounting requirements for such reports. Responsible for all external financial reporting processes, including facilitation of the Disclosure Committee, and related subcommittees. Implement new processes as needed to support financial reports and related external audit requirements. Is the liaison with external auditors regarding all financial reporting processes.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of accounting and financial reporting requirements. Oversee the technical accounting research function for the Financial Operations organization. Recommend process and/or reporting changes that ensure compliance with existing and/or new accounting requirements and regulation changes. As a subject matter expert, consult with business area and/or subsidiary senior management regarding the impact of proposed and/or approved federal and state reporting requirement/regulation changes, complex accounting issues and impact of proposed transactions and developments. Ensure the implementation of new accounting requirements. Assign department resources to perform various special accounting and reporting projects.
- Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of materials and financial information to meet filing requirements and support securities registration and issuance (debt and equity) for all Xcel Energy companies.
- Oversee and manage the documentation and execution of internal controls required for Sarbanes Oxley processes related to Sarbanes Oxley compliance. Directs the preparation and distribution of certain external financial data to internal management, including summarized operating results and statistics and financial reports for various Xcel Energy subsidiaries.

- Provide expert testimony and rate case support and schedules for historical financial data. Manage the response to formal data requests.
- Attract, recruit and retain a highly motivated and engaged workforce. Anticipate workforce needs and develop the qualifications and proficiency of the section's employees through technical guidance, training programs, and on-the-job coaching. Establish and communicate clear performance expectations. Communicate Corporate, Business Area and Department goals and objectives to ensure business needs are met.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting required. MBA preferred. CPA certification required. Eight to ten years of progressively responsible public or private accounting experience required. Experience to include SEC reporting experience and a minimum of 5 or more years of middle-management experience. Utility industry background preferred. Solid understanding of and demonstrated working knowledge of SEC, FERC, DOL & ERSIA accounting and financial reporting requirements and regulations required. Demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issues. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated analytical and technical research skills.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $136,000.00 to $192,665.00 per year

Pay and benefit packages may vary based on position. Some employees are under collective bargaining agreements, which determine the benefits they will receive.
