Job Description
SmartRent is seeking a Director of FP&A, reporting to the SVP-Finance, to lead financial data analytics, operational and strategic planning with a high-level of exposure across the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for all facets of corporate financial planning and analysis. You are a key contributor to business planning and forecasting, including the development of annual operating budgets and support ad hoc projects. The Director FP&A will provide integral support to the CEO, CFO, Sales, Marketing and Operations leadership.
Responsibilities
- Key contributor providing clear insights into drivers of business growth, risks and opportunities.
- Prepare the annual operating budget and quarterly re-forecasts.
- Gather, consolidate and analyze actual operating and financial results compared to operating budget, including preparation of internal reporting deliverables, analyze and explain trends & drivers, identify actionable anomalies and make suggestions to improve results.
- Participate in the development, maintenance and measurement of performance metrics, methods, and targets for the business.
- Identify and drive initiatives to continuously improve, automate and scale tools and systems for forecasting and reporting.
- Lead annual hardware price reviews and make recommendations to support key operational objectives.
- Support key functions in annual price reviews for professional and hosted services.
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing to interpret market data and make recommendations for improvements.
- Review product costs and analyze impacts to pricing and gross margins, make recommendations to sales and leadership to improve gross margins.
- Conduct analysis and interpretation of large sets of data to be able to explain the “why” behind variances and trends.
- Provide variance analysis and research financial irregularities.
- Provide analysis and assistance where needed with respect to monthly financial close.
- Assist with special projects as requested and prepare ad hoc analysis on a regular basis.
- Project Cost Accounting: develop, maintain and report to operations leadership.
- Manage a small FP&A team including hiring, training and evaluating performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of related FP&A experience.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills with the ability to interact at all levels and across functions within the organization.
- Deep knowledge of financial statements and significant experience with three statement models and iterative reference.
- Individuals should be a power user in excel and have strong experience with pivot tables, matches, sumif, and other key formulas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and discern root cause from large sets of data using creative solutions.
- Hands-on, organized, with a passion for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and work effectively under deadlines.
- ERP and Order Management system experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA / MBA preferred.
- NetSuite and Salesforce experience.
- Excellent PowerPoint skills.
- BI system experience.
