The Director, FP&A leads and develops multiple functions within the FP&A team reporting to the VP, FP&A. In connection with the VP, this role will help own all aspects of the annual budget, monthly/quarterly reporting, forecasting, system enhancements, business partnering and managing a team. The role partners across departments at Klaviyo to help track progress against budget and forecast and to understand the respective department’s future spend/hiring and operational goals. This role has direct interaction with senior leadership, including C-suite, Board and other key stakeholders to provide analysis on financial performance and to deliver financial results. This role is expected to lead presentations on analytical findings and influence strategy and action with key stakeholders. Â
How you'll make a difference:
- Oversees an FP&A team that supports critical business functions (R&D, G&A) including headcount planning, recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff.
- Oversees roadmap execution for Corporate FP&A
- Develops managers of FP&A
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Leads a team responsible for financial planning and forecasting, partnering with the strategic finance team to align with the long-term financial model and financial targets
- Advises leaders on financial implications of strategic decisions through the annual planning process including resource allocation, strategic vendor selection and pricing
- Partners with strategic finance to develop targets and KPIs for the business to inform the annual budgeting process based on best-in-class SaaS growth and efficiency measures
- Partnering with the VP of FP&A and other members of the FP&A team, prepares the consolidated annual and quarterly update forecasts for the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow as well as key Metrics reporting/ analytics for the Board of Directors and related decision support. Â
- Presents monthly/quarterly forecasts to the finance team and acts as a trusted advisor to the CFO and VP of FP&A
- Leads the monthly consolidation process and monthly forecast rollover. Â
- Partners closely with Accounting, Financial Operations and Investor Relations to drive continuous improvement on the close processesÂ
- Owns the strategy for key planning systems and integrations with other platforms. Leverages and improves current systems to increase productivity and accuracy of the FP&A team.
- Develops and continues to build a team that is highly effective, resilient and is set up to scale with a strong focus on process improvement, automation & efficiency. Â
- Participates in the IPO planning process helping to prepare reporting on key non-GAAP metrics and CFO/CEO financial metrics primers once public
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Who you are:
- You have experience in a business partnership role
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial planning tools
- Planful, NetSuite, ThoughtSpot and Tableau experience preferred but not required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks with minimum supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset.
- Must have the ability to analyze and visualize financial data and prepare concise reports and strong communication skills to assist management in understanding financial performance and KPIs.
- Excellent storyteller with deep strategic thinking, analytical and financial modeling skills
- Error free, attention to detail with passion for achieving a high degree of accuracy
- Strong communication skills to assist management in understanding financial performance and KPIs.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting or related major.
- 10+ years of experience in an FP&A or related role, 5+ years experience in a business partnership role
- Must have prior people management experience
- Knowledge of/prior experience in the SaaS industry across consolidations, go-to-market and or engineering COG
