Within the Trucking team, we believe freight should be easy, and we are building new capabilities to simplify truckload management for carriers and shippers globally across over- the-road, drayage, cartage and other service lines
Truckload BrokerageThe brokerage team is a new ground-up build that this role will be leading. You will work closely with our product, engineering, procurement and global operations teams to build on the incredible capabilities of Flexport to launch a new commercial truckload brokerage capability for North America. You will be reporting to the EVP of Truckload and have full accountability for the operations, growth, and go to market strategy for our brokerage. We view this as an essential capability to Flexport’s vision of having market leading capabilities to enable simplification at every step of global trade.
The OpportunityWe are looking for a Director of Freight Brokerage to build our brokerage team, develop the business strategy and tactical approach to expansion, collaborate with our commercial team to accelerate growth and market expansion, build a best in class service organization to ensure that we meet the needs of our carriers and customers, build a carrier team to scale and manage our carrier relations, and partner with the broader organization to integrate these new capabilities within the full Flexport service stack. You willOwn the plan and operations team for brokerage in North American market, including accountability for growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and service quality to our shippers and carriers.
Hire, develop, manage and coach an exceptional team of operators and managers..
Work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to drive strategy for Trucking planning and procurement and ensure we are building the right technology for our partners, both internal and external..
Build an exceptional network of carrier partners, be a thought leader and voice for Flexport domestically with carriers and shipping partners.
Set a standard of operational excellence on the team and drive impact.
Define the operating goals and objectives for the brokerage business domestically, build the infrastructure of metrics and touchpoints to manage execution, and ensure the team performs to the highest standards.
Collaborate closely with the product team to bring new technologies and capabilities to market quickly.
Geek out about shipping and logistics. (We do this often.)
Deep expertise in truckload and freight brokerage.
8+ years of operational experience scaling high performing teams and managing teams of 100+
Demonstrated experience driving results both to bottom line (OpEx) improvement and top line growth. With a history of identifying, architecting, and driving business initiatives.
Experience hiring and building diverse and inclusive teams.
Experience in developing business plans, architecting the goals, metrics and touchpoints to drive plan compliance, and consistently driving for results.
Track record of ideating, planning, executing, and reflecting on multi-month initiatives.
Strong analytical skills. Must have comfort with data, root cause analysis, and evaluating statistical results.
Experience in a fast-paced work environment & a bias for action. You ship quality code quickly and decisively.
