Director, Head of Thought Leader and Industry Relations
The Director, Head of Thought Leader and Industry Relations, will lead the strategic direction of building Biofourmis' first commercial customer facing role focused on the identification and cultivation of relationships with both leading and emerging key opinion leaders (KOLs) across key therapeutic areas in which we commercialize our platform and solutions. This role will ensure alignment to each franchise strategic imperatives to deliver against objectives in the near term and determine the longer-term goals and GTM approach as the business expands. The Director will guide and support the strategic build out and execution of the KOL development plan and champion this through cross functional influence and alignment with internal stakeholders.
This role will be accountable for all related engagement strategies in the US and will collaborate with key internal stakeholders including Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, Field Force, Business Development, Clinical Development, and Clinical Operations to support the inception, development and communication on execution of the strategy. This position will report to the Vice President, Marketing in US.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the Strategic direction KOL strategy and industry relations management in line with the business goals.
- Lead the insight generation strategy in partnership with key internal stakeholders.
- Identify, develop and lead opportunities for key strategic partnerships with targeted and relevant societies and conferences to support insight generation, educational outreach and collaboration.
- Build plan for focus groups, research, advisory panels and key thought leadership relations and projects.
- Identify and develop the approach in partnership within each business unit team to support the awareness of Biofourmis with customer sets.
- Develop the strategy to expand education and build advocacy
- Lead the development and launch of Biofourmis' first Speaker Bureau
- Operate to the highest standards in alignment with Biofourmis' code of conduct, ensuring all interactions with KOLs are on-label and consistent with commercial, regulatory, and legal guidelines.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree
- MBA preferred and/or an advanced science degree
- Previous HCP and Thought Leadership & industry relations experience
- Previous Strategic Marketing experience preferred
- 10+ years of commercial experience in the MedTech, medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- 3-5 years of field experience desirable (preferably in field leadership)
- Experience and proven success in developing impactful partnerships with societies
- Experience in developing and implementing KOL strategies through appropriate, compliant and engaging interactions
- Proven success in developing insight driven strategic plans and business cases to evolve/adapt current approaches with demonstrated positive impact
- Understanding of/experience in leading a complex business across multiple conditions
- Experience in balancing portfolio objectives
- Thorough understanding of the regulatory environment and compliance considerations
- Proven ability to influence without authority and work with cross-functional teams in the development and delivery of brand strategic imperatives.
- Thrives in a highly entrepreneurial environment and embraces Biofourmis' culture of technology, passion, and urgency
- Maintains a growth mindset and uses curiosity to uncover opportunities for continuous development and improvement
- Comfortable adapting and leading in ambiguous and changing environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and executive presence.
- Ability to travel ~50% and willingness and ability to travel to the home office in Boston
