About the Position

The Director, Human Resource Business Partners (HRBP) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the successful execution of workforce strategies and processes in alignment with the business segments' vision and Ameren strategy. The Director, HRBP serves as a key member of the Human Resources Strategy Team and engages with officer level segment senior leadership regularly, integrating and executing on workforce needs in partnership with the broader Human Resources team and segment leadership. This position is primarily at the Ameren HQ and reports to Ameren's Senior Director, HR Business Partners.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure an integrated workforce strategy and alignment around key workforce priorities and deliverables. Ensure strong alignment between the segments' business plans and HR's business plan - ensuring talent plans help to de-risk the business plans.
  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners responsible for collaboration across HR in order to advance how we approach Workforce Health, Talent Planning, and Workforce Optimization to seamlessly address critical workforce needs with business leaders.
  • Serve as a business partner to the Business and Corporate Services and Ameren Transmission Company leadership teams - anticipating needs, problem solving complex talent challenges, providing guidance and direction around HR issues, and ensuring the resolution of issues, as needed, through the broader HR team.
  • Serve as a key member of HR's strategy team, representing the business segment perspective in strategy and business planning discussions. Educate HR team members regarding operational and segment business impacts and identify opportunities to engage the broader HR team within the business.
  • Lead regular Workforce Health discussions that enable segment and corporate leaders to engage around key workforce metrics, priorities, and deliverables and to assess execution effectiveness. Ensure meetings are designed for impact, addressing the highest priority workforce issues. Monitor action items and ensure appropriate follow-up. Ensure strong alignment in HR in preparation for discussions and provide structure to execute effectively. Maintain close alignment with the Workforce Health Dashboard and Talent Process metrics to keep business leaders informed. Monitor metrics/results and proactively address challenges or gaps.
  • Oversee segment execution of core talent processes (including hiring/onboarding, succession planning, development planning, leadership transitions, performance management, workforce planning, knowledge transfer, engagement action planning, and off-boarding). Engage directly with segment senior leaders to ensure process ownership and accountability, discuss the effectiveness of key processes and/or provide real time observation and coaching. Proactively identify any process risks or opportunities to enhance process effectiveness and build leadership capabilities.
  • Maintain strong partnership across the HR team to address needs. Meet regularly with team members (direct and indirect) to maintain alignment, prioritize work, and ensure the integrated delivery of HR solutions.
  • Lead key HR and workforce projects in alignment with talent plans and workforce strategy needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant business-related discipline required.
  • An MBA or Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • 10 years of broad and progressive human resources experience and a strong, strategic talent mind-set is required.
  • 5 or more years of people leadership experience is required.
  • Experience leading in a strategic business partner role or talent management role is required.
  • Experience in manufacturing or regulated industry is beneficial, but not required.

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively (through multiple channels) with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to translate the big picture into focused actions.

  • The Director, HR Business Partners works a hybrid schedule flexing time between a home and office environment.
  • Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.
