About the role:

Samsara is looking for a Director, HR Operations & HR technology to lead our global HR infrastructure team (Workday Lead, Sr Global Ops Mgr, HR specialist, and 2 coordinators). 

The HR infrastructure (HR Ops) team is building the processes and systems for our multi-year journey to 5000 employees and beyond.  The team will support scaling our processes for onboarding/offboarding  optimizing processes (transfers, compensation letters, etc) in Workday, surfacing insights through employee data, and ensuring that employee personal “moments that matter” are flawlessly executed.

In this role, you will: 
  • Scale Our Culture:  Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s Values (Focus on the Customer, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Build for the Long Term, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Team Growth and Development:  Hire, develop, and lead a high performing global HR Operations Team & HR Technology team
  • Data Integrity & Compliance:  Ensure our processes for all data (new hires, transfers, cost centers) are consistently accurate and iterate for continued automation to support our business metrics, benefits, and payroll. 
  • Data Governance & Documentation: Work with stakeholders to architect a formal data governance framework regarding HR data scopes, along with documentation on key fields and processes
  • Build out our HR infrastructure:  Work with our stakeholders (managers, people partners, finance) to build out processes within WorkDay for self-service.  Review our current ticket system (benefits, leaves, general questions, etc) to ensure timely responses to our employees. 
  • Optimize our HR technology tech stack: Understand the full tech stack (WorkDay, Peakon, Lattice, etc) across the employee lifecycle and optimize the cost, experience, and roadmap over the next 2 years
  • Customer Service Orientation:  Enable continued great customer service for employees as we scale.  

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years experience in People Operations; preferably in fast growing companies
  • Outstanding people leadership skills in hiring and developing talent
  • You have a proven track record of being hands-on in building and executing company-wide processes and programs from scratch
  • Ability to build credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment; ability to make sound decisions independently; solutions-oriented
  • Strong analytical and project management skills, proven ability to design and communicate clear processes, and a detail-oriented yet flexible approach to problem solving
  • Impeccable discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong bias for action and not afraid to “roll up your sleeves”
