Position Summary
Responsible for overseeing all human resources issues including staffing, staff relations, orientation and development, compensation and benefits. Directs the Human Resources Department and is a resource person for the department. Develops and recommends human resources practices and procedures that assist in the growth of the facility. Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures and applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities
Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
Upholds the Standards of Conduct and Corporate Compliance.
Keeps abreast of new developments in the organization development field and incorporates best practices into existing tools. Analyzes business and organizational issues and develops short and long range strategies and helps the organization develop new tools and processes that move the human resources strategy forward.
Keeps current on employment law and applies policy; confers with managers on routine and complex matters; consults with legal counsel and researches employment issues.
Consistently follows facility guidelines and procedures in performance.
Manages and coordinates Human Resource programs and activities pertaining to employment, recruiting, employee relations, compensation, and organizational development. Supervises human resources staff which includes hiring, assigning tasks, problem solving, monitoring activities, evaluating performance and disciplining staff.
Oversees staffing and recruitment and is responsible for the design and implementation of recruiting strategies for identifying sources of qualified applicants.
Responsible for the management, and oversight of the HRIS function to ensure accurate employee information and provide management reporting needed for informed decision-making.
Completes annual education requirements.
Promotes of a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices.
Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and programs for competitiveness with the market and recommends revisions that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and organizational objectives.
Supports, reviews, and understands the JCAHO and DNV's compliance activities and expectations.
Enhances the patient experience by fostering a positive relationship with customers. Contributes to improving HCAHP results.
Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.
Qualifications
Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum of seven years human resources experience in healthcare required.
Two years' experience as a supervisor or manager required.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources Required
PHR or relevant human resources certification
