About this opportunity:
At Freenome, we are seeking an Internal Communications Director to support Freenome on a contract basis. The ideal candidate is a seasoned communications professional adept at developing effective communication strategies and execution that engage, inform, and inspire Freenome’s internal stakeholders. This person is responsible for all things related to internal communications including. You will have a significant impact fostering a positive and transparent work culture, driving employee engagement, and aligning Freenomers with our mission and values.
What you’ll do:
- Creates strategic, concise and engaging internal/employee communications including, but not limited to: communications plans, intranet posts, emails, leadership messages/presentations, speakerships/remarks, talking points, Q&A/briefing documents, and other relevant content
- Lead all aspects for all-hands and managers meetings including the editorial calendar, content curation, editing, sign-off, presenter readiness, zoom invitations, and advancing slides
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages including tone and style
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all channels and for different cross functional teams within the organization
- Continually gauge the effectiveness of communications activities, adjusting strategies and tactics as appropriate
- Assists with crisis and change communications in partnership with teams such as Facilities and People
- Serve as a strategic and tactical partner, especially for complicated and sensitive communications affecting the whole company
Must haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- 10+ years proven experience in internal communications
- Experience managing and executing communication campaigns across multiple channels, including digital platforms, intranet, email, and social media
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and tailor them to various audiences
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, translating business goals into effective communication plans
- Proficiency in project management, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Organized with an attention to detail and an ability to successfully edit communications and manage multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Track record of working closely with senior executives as a strategic communications counselor
- Ability to take complex information and develop crisp messaging and communications plans for diverse audiences and across a variety of formats
- Demonstrated ability to drive content creation and creative direction of presentation development and content creation
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in internal communications and implement innovative approaches as appropriate
