JOB DESCRIPTION
UL Solutions is seeking a Director, Internal Communications, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications. This person will lead a small team of communicators that deliver communications counsel and support to the Human Resources function and to global business teams across the UL Solutions portfolio, including strategic planning in support of key functional initiatives and business priorities; developing and delivering effective communications plans and messages.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve on the Communications global leadership team, contributing to the development of long-term vision, planning and annual goal setting for the function.
- Develop and execute internal communications strategies that drive employee engagement and forge stronger alignment with the company's direction.
- Establish protocols and processes to align global business communications with uniform yet culturally appropriate communications tools and content.
- Author an employee engagement narrative in conjunction with the HR employee engagement strategy that aligns to the overall transformation of the UL Solutions portfolio. Lead communications strategy and implementation of all aspects of the employee experience including but not limited to recruitment marketing, employee engagement, change management, and DEI.
- Guide efforts to consistently develop creative, compelling, and human-focused content that connects ULS employees with each other, leaders, and the company's strategic initiatives.
- Work with Director, Business Communications to align internal-facing communications within the ULS organization.
- Amplify employee social network volume to support brand and business/product marketing efforts.
- Manage and utilize innovative and effective communications channels to best communicate key messages to broad internal stakeholders.
- Work with SVP to plan and promote signature internal events, including CEO-level initiatives, and quarterly all-employee town meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of demonstrated successful experience in Communications in a global corporate environment
- 5+ years of managing and developing high performing global teams
- Exceptional writing and editing skills. Storytelling is non-negotiable talent.
- Strong verbal communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills
- The ability to think strategically and provide communications counsel to senior leadership and lead the development of communication strategies and plans to drive results
- Experience working in large, complex organization with diverse products, with a focus on collaboration with Director peers to evolve the communications function overall
- Effective balance of strategy and execution with the ability to drive change and achieve business results
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Problem solving skills, with specific focus on developing new, creative ways to drive communications in a changing business environment
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build teamwork and trust including in working across functions and disciplines
- Positive attitude and willingness to embrace change
