Job Description
Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Director, Long-Term Recovery Programs to join our Rebuild Operations. The Director, Long-Term Recovery Programs will be an organizational leader for Long-term Recovery capacity building through Trade skills credentialing and certification programming as well construction service delivery. This role must balance daily execution, long-term team development, and organizational and programmatic strategy. This will require a detailed understanding of rebuild operations and vision for Team Rubicon’s programming in trade skills development as well as close coordination across all Departments. The Director, Long-term Recovery Programs will provide a clear strategic vision, develop and gain buy-in for cross-departmental strategic initiatives, and help execute Team Rubicon’s work in the long-term recovery space.
Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization quickly becoming a household name in disaster response and humanitarianism. This position reports to TR’s Chief Programs Officer and is based out of TR’s Rebuild HQ in Houston, TX.
Duties:
- Design, own, and oversee programmatic strategy and execution of Rebuild and Trade skills development services.
- Assume responsibility to support continued execution of post-disaster construction by organic staff and contract partners.
- Maximize the effectiveness of every dollar invested to get families back into safe, stable, more resilient homes.
- Lead Team Rubicon’s investment in skilled trades development, the Trades Academy, to offer transitioning military veterans and others a route into the trades, focused on post-disaster construction.
- Shape and mature a program build that has dedicated multi-year funding.
- Maximize impact in delivery of Team Rubicon's services.
- Inspire, lead, manage a growing team of full-time employees.
- Build influence and rapport with strategic governmental and non-governmental partners.
- Foster an award-winning culture of inclusiveness and diversity.
- Oversee execution of the annual budget for recovery operations.
- Lead development of Trades Academy budget and build plan.
- Develop team performance goals and administer performance management.
- Innovate disaster recovery, constantly seeks ways to improve operational support.
- Evangelize within and outside the organization Rebuild and Trades Academy current and future impact on community resiliency.
Experience and Background:
- 10-15 years of relevant professional experience in the military, construction, or trades management/skills development
- Uniquely trained to help build community resilience and maintain the fabric of communities
- Has experience in trades education and the desire to innovate in the space
- Proven record of personnel management experience such as leading teams, developing staff for leadership roles, and promoting a positive and inclusive work environment
- Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff members and external stakeholders
Special Requirements:
- This is a full time; (both remote & in-office will be considered) position based in the Houston Metro area and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)
- Evening and weekend schedule supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations
- Local Travel: Reliable transportation is required. The person filling this position will be expected to travel within their local area to support ongoing efforts
- Other Travel: At least 25% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities focused within the assigned territory

Pay Range:
- $114,959 - $143,699 per year
