The primary role for the Director, Managed Accounts Product Management is to provide the strategic direction of the Managed Account (SMA) business at T. Rowe Price (inclusive of Manager Traded, Model Delivery, Dual Contract, and Asset Allocation Model Portfolios) and to manage various product-related business activities in support of this vehicle. Product-related business activities include a wide range of product strategy, product development, and product management activities.
Primary Responsibilities
The Director, Managed Accounts Product Management will be accountable for leading the SMA product for T. Rowe Price and will need to be an advocate for these vehicles within Global Product and the firm. This role will have a strong partnership with the Director, Managed Accounts Operations and will work in a strategic capacity with senior management in USI, Investments, Global Product, and supports global efforts for this vehicle, e.g., Australia, or EMEA model portfolios. The Director, Managed Accounts Product Management will lead the internal SMA Governance meeting agendas and will also represent T. Rowe Price in certain external forums (NICSA, SMA Advisory Forum, etc.).

The primary role for the Director, Managed Accounts Product Management is to provide the strategic direction of the Managed Account (SMA) business at T. Rowe Price (inclusive of Manager Traded, Model Delivery, Dual Contract, and Asset Allocation Model Portfolios) and to manage various product-related business activities in support of this vehicle. Product-related business activities include a wide range of product strategy, product development, and product management activities.
- Product strategy includes working directly with distribution and investment leaders to identify market and channel demand drivers and trends, seeking competitive intelligence with competing asset managers, knowledge of industry trends (tax managed SMAs, mass customization, direct indexing), understanding current and future client needs and developing the Managed Accounts product strategy roadmap, while collaborating directly with Global Product partners to align with the broader Global Product priorities.
- Product development involves research, development, and implementation of new strategies in SMA products ensuring they are designed to meet clients' needs including but not limited to investment design parameters, naming, pricing, and ensuring these are effectively implemented.
- Product management activities include ongoing research and review of the existing product suite, to ensure it is "fit for purpose" and to identify potential product enhancements to existing SMAs.

The Director, Managed Accounts Product Management will lead the internal SMA Governance meeting agendas and will also represent T. Rowe Price in certain external forums (NICSA, SMA Advisory Forum, etc.).
- Establishes the strategic approach for the management and monitoring of a variety of products and product lines and works with senior leaders to ensure functional strategies tie to business unit objectives. Guides staff in building the business case for firm offerings in the marketplace and ensures that the team stays on top of the competitive landscape and the industry environment. Provides input into the determination of key products and the long term goals for the function. Responsible for the growth and profitability for a large proportion of product offerings.
- Manages a large number of products within the Business Unit. Evaluates suggested areas for enhancement or new/innovative features and works with Product Development managers to determine the most viable options to pursue. Ensures implementation across all global products.
- Determines overall strategic positioning and targeted client segments for assigned products. Partners with Business Unit leaders to outline and deliver on sales and market share goals.
- With Business Unit and functional peers, establishes the Risk, Legal and Compliance guidelines under which subordinate departments will operate. Advises management team on navigating requirements and interpreting unusual or difficult conditions
- Recruits, directs, motivates and develops a management team, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to build and sustain a high-performing, strategicallyfocused workforce within their assigned department. Accountable for the financial and human resources of multiple departments to include budgeting, staffing resources, etc.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
- 12+ years of total relevant work experience and 5+ years of management experience
Preferred :
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating the ability to deal with people at all levels of the organization
- Ability to influence, have gravitas with senior leaders in distribution, investments, and global product
- Strong partnership with and ability to influence the Director, Managed Accounts Operations.
- Deep understanding of product development and management processes and practices together with a sound knowledge of operational and regulatory frameworks and how they relate to "best practice" product governance
- Professional curiosity to identify and drive new ideas of opportunity and an ability to pursue problem resolutions
- General knowledge of securities and how they are traded, settle, and taxed, as well as general knowledge of investment advisory rules.
- Strong knowledge of SMA vehicles (Model Delivery, Manager Traded, and Dual Contract) and what segments of advisors/intermediaries use them, how they use them, how they are priced
- Considerable leadership and change management abilities
- Understating of operational roles such as performance, reconciliation, etc. in order to effectively partner with internal and external partners
