Director, Marketing (Clinical)
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Director, Clinical Marketing, is accountable for 1) discovering and developing industry thought leaders and influencers, 2) driving evidence-based initiatives, 3) coordinating activities of the Autonomous Pharmacy Advisory Board, and 4) directing the Applied Informatics Fellowship program.
The Director of Clinical Marketing is a key member of the marketing leadership team responsible for developing and maintaining excellence in medication management activities, building best-in class capabilities and leading activities that are necessary to generate and publish evidence that fills knowledge gaps.
This person is responsible for developing and implementing clinical marketing plans and for developing tools that highlight the clinical value proposition of Omnicell services and technology. In addition, this director will work with key Chief Pharmacy Officers, Directors of Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Technician champions to drive consistency and excellence in the utilization of Omnicell services and technology. This role will require detailed technical/clinical knowledge of Omnicell services and solid knowledge of the medication management marketplace.
I addition, this individual will provide support for congresses, medication management and scientific advisory boards, and scientific communications and publication components reflecting the overall medication management strategic imperatives.
The person in this role will be responsible for working with Marketing, Product Marketing, the Autonomous Pharmacy Advisory Board, and Product Management teams, as well as the company's public relations firm, to support key initiatives focused on thought leadership.
The person in this role will also oversee the execution of the Applied Informatics Fellowship, a 24-month fellowship sponsored by Omnicell and based at partner health systems.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Medication management subject matter expert to provide direction for scientific communications, publication planning/review, advisory boards, health outcomes plans, speaker programs, investigator-initiated research and, as necessary, CME grant reviews or other internal key business processes.
- Develop medication management KOLs to create a successful reference network for clinical and technical validation.
- Work very closely with all of Marketing, Sales, and other functions to develop new customer support collateral, specifically case studies, whitepapers and clinical "tips and tricks" material, to meet our adoption goals.
- Manage relationships with key societies and organizations to integrate Omnicell clinical and educational activities; define, develop and implement Omnicell's presence at key conferences. Work closely with Customer Success and Marketing to implement clinical & publication strategy that will support Omnicell marketing goals.
- Supports leadership in providing strategic direction to stakeholders in interactions and communications with external customers, thought leaders, strategic alliances, key organizations, and institutions.
- Identify, review, analyze, and synthesize published and pre-publication scientific evidence to drive initiatives that advance Omnicell's strategy and engage industry thought leaders.
- Drive thought leadership initiatives that leverage the output, knowledge, and experience of industry thought leaders including, but not limited to, members of the Autonomous Pharmacy Advisory Board.
- In coordination with the chair of the Autonomous Advisory Board, develop and drive the annual advisory board plan including the following: facilitate and coordinate meetings and activities of the advisory Board, actively participate in the meetings of the advisory board and its workstreams and committees, and support operational needs of the advisory board.
- Serve as Director of the Applied Informatics Fellowship program, mentor and preceptor for fellows, and liaison with customers involved in joint Omnicell-sponsored fellowship programs.
- Develop and implement promotional programs based on peer-to-peer interaction for clinical and technical validation.
Key Skills Required:
- A dynamic individual and self-starter.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based practice, literature searching and evaluation, and thorough understanding of clinical research methodology and interpretation
- Knowledge of KOLs and influencers (and interaction with), in the medication management field
- Academic or Pharmaceutical experience with a history of senior roles related to publications, case studies, clinical trials, and the like.
- Understands general publication practices and FDA regulations and/or guidelines regarding conduct of clinical studies in relevant medication management area.
- Combination of detail orientation and strategic perspective
- Exceptional people and project management skills, with the ability to effectively plan, assign, delegate, coordinate and/or monitor the work of multiple stakeholders across departments, as well as industry thought leaders, including, but not limited to, advisory board members
- Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills (writing, editing, public speaking, PowerPoint)
- Excellent management skills in a highly fast-paced environment
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- 5 years of healthcare industry or healthcare delivery experience
- 3 years of experience analyzing scientific evidence and clinical literature
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree (preferably, MBA or MHA)
- 8 years of healthcare industry experience
- 5 years of experience interacting with senior-level individuals at customer accounts
- 5 years of experience analyzing clinical literature and scientific evidence
- 3 years of experience in content development for thought leadership initiatives
- Experience as a preceptor and directing education programs such as residencies or fellowships
