Director, Math Suite Strategy & Operations
Job Description
The Director, Math Suite Strategy and Operations is a critical leader within the math team, reporting to the SVP Product, Math. At a high level, the role will be responsible for leading and executing the business strategy and holistic product vision across the Math Suite.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategy: Actively contribute to the strategic planning process for math. Partner on the definition of business cases. Plan and oversee the annual refresh of market and competitor intel. Gather inputs, conduct research, ideate on product solutions, analyze potential investment and partnership opportunities, and perform other ad-hoc analyses for strategic initiatives. Partner on setting, documenting, and communicating math strategy and story.
Vision & Planning: Plan and facilitate cross-suite workshops to align plans, product vision, and story across the suite. Document product vision following workshops and keep current. Help communicate vision and product decisions to the broader team. Align the roadmap across the suite. Provide feedback on product development initiatives to ensure continued alignment with the math suite business strategy and product vision. Initiate and manage the OKR process across the Math suite, ensuring all VPs and product leads set OKRs on time using best practices. Track progress towards math portfolio-level OKRs.
Communication: Map out and own pan-math communication paths and processes; examples could include:
- Facilitating Math leadership meetings, including collaborating with VPs and product leads to prepare and prioritize topics for collective decision-making, and driving follow-up processes.
- Organizing and leading regular math all-team forums and supporting sub-team strategy and planning sessions.
- Preparing decks, documents, and other artifacts for communication purposes.
Insights: Be the expert on Math K-12 competitors' product experiences and strategies. Actively monitor competitor moves and market trends and report to product teams and leadership. Help direct math market and user research questions and priorities to inform product development across core, supplemental, assessment, and suite. Regularly evaluate customer satisfaction, collect input from customer-facing teams, and share findings. Collaborate cross-functionally to track metrics and activate new users.
Product Org Excellence: Work with math VPs to foster consistency in the best product development and operational practices gathered from within and outside of math. Seek, document, and execute against areas for operational improvement. Help coach and mentor math product teammates on best practices to level up their skills.
Champion: Be an internal champion for K-12 Math, representing Math in cross-functional forums and collaboration moments and aligning product development initiatives. Serve as an external champion of K-12 Math, adding capacity for product leaders when interfacing with customers, third parties, and customer-facing teams. Provide support on external communications including RPFs, marketing collateral, press releases.
GTM & Ready to Serve: Partner with cross-functional teams to execute on Go to Market and Ready to Serve and successfully launch, support, and sunset products. Own the creation of deliverables, working with product managers and VPs to gather the needed inputs. Collaborate with GTM to plan and manage field trials and pilots.
Financial Management: Conduct regular pipeline, bookings, renewals, and margin analysis to monitor performance and make recommendations to product and GTM. Oversee math OpEx budget, working with VPs to gather inputs for setting the budget and refinements for reforecasts.
Special Projects: Own and drive special projects from start to finish, including research, analysis, recommendations, and implementation. Create executive-level deliverables and team-level documents to support sharing the work and help implement next steps.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related work experience
- 8+ years of product management, project management, operations, and/or strategy experience
- Strong leader with experience managing people and teams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to bring together diverse stakeholders around decisions, operations, and outcomes
- Proven success managing a diverse range of complex stakeholder relationships in a matrixed organization to create focus and deliver on complex projects in an evolving environment
- Ability to travel regionally and nationally. Amplify's COVID-19 Policy requires full vaccination for in-person meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA, advanced degree, or management consulting experience
- Passion for math
- Experience in the field of education, school / district leadership, educational publishing / technology
- Deep experience with Amplify products
- Salesforce and Google Suite experience
What we offer:
Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a lucrative 401(k) plan, incentive stock options, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross salary range for this role is $120,000 - $130,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
