Job Summary
Responsible for the implementation of the enterprise-wide technical vision and direction of the Engineering department. Implements business standards, goals, strategies and objectives (within assigned areas) that are competitive with industry standards and strives to arrive at those goals. Monitors and assists in creating annual and quarterly budgets. Develops and leads a team of dynamic engineering staff and assures work performance is in adherence to company and industry standards. Acts as a technical resource to management across the department and lateral departments. Provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions. Contributes to the development of the organization's business strategy. Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to align with this strategy. Typically manages multiple teams of professionals.

This team is leading the industry in building a truly intelligent network that enables many new products and services. As the network becomes more complex, we need to leverage the intelligence to provide better insight into the operations and performance of the network. Our tools will become more intelligent, utilizing telemetry, AI and machine learning to guide our field operations personnel to efficient issue resolution.
About the Role:
The Director, Next Generation Access Network Tools, is responsible for providing vision, strategy, and leadership for planning, building, developing and implementing a comprehensive set of tools for field operations to drive effective and efficient detection and resolution of customer impacting issues. Utilizes system engineering expertise to provide a full system approach to the development. This position will bridge across the technology teams, the field teams and the operations teams in order to drive new, intelligent tools and solutions to the business.
The candidate must bring expertise to support synthesizing business goals with technical feasibility to develop strategic execution plans to support overall business objectives for field operations and reliability.
What You'll Do:
- Provides leadership and vision to develop strategic plan for next generation field operations tooling and processes.
- Collaborate with key technical leaders to support evolution of network.
- Synthesize tooling and automation requirements tying technical capabilities with field operations challenges.
- Apply analytic skills to measure and improve effectiveness of field operations tools.
- Evangelize tool and process changes to division engineering and field operations leadership
- Manage change in processes and tools to ensure successful implementation.
- Facilitate user group sessions with field operations and development personnel to drive improvements to the tool set.
- Communicate plans, status, metrics and overall business success to executive leadership.
Skills & Experience We're Looking For:
- Strong engineering background - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field preferred
- 15+ years working in the technology space preferably in the development of network tools relevant for front-line and headend technicians
- Good understanding of product lifecycle especially relative to tools development
- Experience in aligning business goals and timelines against technical capability and product delivery
- Experience in managing a tools backlogs and requests originating from internal and external stakeholders
- Experience taking an idea to successful deployment, especially if it relates to tools used in the network
- Experience driving adoption of tools with front line and headend technicians
- Collaborates with clear communication and a positive, results-oriented approach with internal teams and departments
- Someone who has an ownership mentality and will take accountability for the success and quality of deliverables
- An understanding of and familiarity with hardware/software tooling platforms and network architectures

Compensation
This job can be performed in Denver Campus, with a Pay Range of $177,705.71 USD - $278,674.87 USD
