Director of Accounting

Pine Gate Renewables is seeking an experienced Director or Accounting that is excited about working in the dynamic renewable energy industry. This position will report to the SVP, Corporate Controller managing the processes of the Corporate Accounting Department. You should be a self-starter possessing: solid communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and a forward-looking attitude. You should thrive working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and evolving environment. In this role, you will lead a team working cross functionally with department leaders and subsidiary accounting departments, providing excellent customer service, accurate and timely financial information and deliverables while continuously engaging in process improvement. 

What You’ll Do

• Provide leadership for the accounting teams and direct the operations of the corporate accounting group that includes financial consolidation/reporting, GL close, fixed assets, payroll accounting, internal controls, loan draws, AP/AR, intercompany audits, and the accounting software and systems.
• Oversee the month-end and quarter-end close functions, including reviewing and analyzing the financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee the monthly budget to the actual reporting process, meeting with department leaders to review the results of their operations.
• Oversee the year-end corporate consolidating audits process.
• Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures that: adhere to governmental financial and tax regulations, comply with GAAP, and provide a robust internal control structure.
• Develop and direct accounting managers, professionals, and support staff.
• Facilitate the flow of information between Accounting and other departments within the company, as well as subsidiary entities, external auditors, and consultants.
• Continuously look for ways to increase efficiencies and improve processes to accommodate expected growth in volume.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Must-Haves

• 8+ years of progressive responsibility in a corporate accounting environment or a combination of public accounting and corporate accounting
• Five years of managerial experience
• Strong proficiency with GAAP and experience with revenue recognition 
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills 
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, make decisions, prioritize job duties, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment 
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to develop strong relationships across all levels of the organization 
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel Skills 
• Proficient in MS Office 

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in the solar industry preferred
• Experience with joint ventures, parent-subsidiary, and other complex organizational structures preferred
• Experience with accounting software implementation preferred
• Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software a plus 
• Big Four experience a plus

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, MBA a plus
• CPA is preferred 

Working Environment and Physical Demand

• May require lifting/carrying items up to 30 pounds.
• Travel up to 10%
