Director of Accounting

Reporting to the AVP Controller, the Director of Accounting directs the establishment and implementation of the organization's accounting policies and procedures. They act as a back up to the Controller and they have overall responsibility for assigned accounting operations and systems, as well as associated analysis and report preparation. The Director of accounting Is responsible for ensuring the accounting department and organization are following GAAP. and produce accurate and timely financial statements, monthly, and quarterly and annual reports. They leads and develop accounting team members.

What you will do here:

• Provide oversight for accounting functions such as daily balancing, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Review and validate month end close, financial statements produced monthly, and quarterly and annual reports.
• Validate and monitor adherence to ensure control over transactional processing and posting to the credit union's various general ledger accounts.
• Provide quarterly oversight of the NCUA 5300 Call Report and FNMA regulatory report.
• Provide oversight to accounting staff and cross-functional LOBs to ensure the reconciliation of the member transactional processing database to the general ledger
• Set department goals based on employee roles, coach for performance, and review performance on an annual basis.
• Provide input and assistance with annual operating budget
• Perform other other job-related duties as assigned.

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 8+ years Accounting experience, with management experience and generally accepted accounting principles required.
• 5+ years experience using Accounting software required (Great Plains preferred)
• Demonstrated competency managing the General ledger and the reconciliation process required.
• Demonstrated expertise leading the accounts payable and receivable functions required.
• Expertise with fixed asset accounting required.
• Demonstrated expertise with benefits related accounts reconciliation required.
• Demonstrated expertise preparing Financial Statements required.
• Demonstrated expertise preparing Budget required.
• Demonstrated expertise managing 401(k) related transactions and all transactions affecting financial statements required.
• Demonstrated competency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) required.
• CPA - Certified Public Accountant preferred.
