Director of Advisor Development
Job Description
Our client is a top financial firm seeking a Director of Advisor Development to work alongside their Managing Director. The responsibility of the Director of Advisor Development is to manage the process of developing new financial advisors for the growing firm. This involves working with office leadership to implement training and development strategies and programs.Â
Responsibilities
- Maintain the office’s mentor/joint work list and manage use of the list by the new advisors
- Oversee the mentor pairings and ensure mentors are trained
- Develop and train mentors on curriculum to use with their mentees (while using yourself)
- Implement case consultation meetings with all mentees
- Conduct meetings with clients and mentees (receive 1% commission on all joint clients)
- Be the liaison between the larger office training team and candidates/new advisors
- Follow up on business and marketing plans with candidates to ensure adequate completion of assignments throughout onboarding
- Meet with new advisors to verify understanding and completion of items on the Pre Planning Academy checklist. Prepare them for the Planning Academy
- Coordinate Expert Insight Sessions and facilitate/instruct experts on content delivery
- Communicate with the corporate office on the national training program, on the readiness of the participants and work to fill any gaps or address any issues
- Communicate with the Training Specialist throughout training with regard to advisors. Pass along feedback, highlights and areas of opportunity to district leadership
- Schedule supplemental ongoing training for the year. As well as attend/supervise and facilitate those trainings
- Coordinate and prepare speakers for monthly skills lab
- Work in conjunction with Development Coach to strategize, manage, and track office expectations for office
- Track activity, production, and commitment to the career for all new Financial Representatives
- Ensure alignment with district expectations to provide opportunities for developmentÂ
- Attend Weekly Development Team Meetings presented by Development Coach to receive weekly feedback on each new advisor's progress, strengths and areas of opportunityÂ
- Participate in the Board of Review process for advisors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experienceÂ
- Three- to six-years of financial services industry experienceÂ
- Investment licensed - Series 6, 63 or Series 7, 63
- Superior meeting facilitation and presentation skills
- Experience coaching and providing feedback to peersÂ
- Aptitude for addressing issues in a proactive and creative manner, and leading crucial conversations using a results-focused approach
- Effective time management to address multiple priorities at multiple levels
- Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Committed to professional development (e.g., licensing, registration, designations)
