How Will Your Role Impact First Command?
The Director of Agility & Analytics is an influential role for advancing First Command's analytics capabilities and agile transformation. The Director is part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics Leadership Team and partners with the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leaders across the firm. The Director of Agility & Analytics is key in leveraging our increased data maturity to act on insights that increase revenue and reduce costs at First Command. The Director is accountable for establishing data literacy and maturing analytics capabilities to support talent, operational and transformation program decisions; based on First Command's cultural intentions, Operations & Technology vision and Enterprise Data & Analytics strategy.
The Director of Agility & Analytics plays a critical role in organizational transformation efforts. In the immediate time frame, the Director is a critical member of the cross functional Agile Transformation Office (ATO). In this capacity, the Director informs the transformation strategy alongside executive leaders and agile coaches as well as facilitates the ATO cadence. This role has direct influence and input in decisions required to structure and measure our business agility; including the success of implementing SAFe competencies of Lean-Agile Leadership, Continuous Learning Culture, Lean Portfolio Management, and Organizational Agility. While the ATO is a transitional leadership group, ongoing transformation efforts will require the input, expertise and leadership of the Director of Agility & Analytics.
The ideal candidate is a change agent with a collaborative working style that fuels transformation within the organization. This individual is required to think holistically as they collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups in First Command.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Design and lead the First Command Data Literacy Program, working with several advocacy groups to gain buy-in, coach the organization and measure maturity;
- Create a data-driven approach to the Agile Transformation, informing organizational agility and enabling the workforce of the future;
- Design and implement analytics standards, frameworks and practices for the company to create transparency and democratized access to data
- Guide functional groups such as Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Sales and Technology to implement data driven behaviors
- Collaborate with business and technology leaders to identify metrics to measure talent, skills, and value delivered;
- Create a measurement strategy to capture how First Command is managing and maximizing data
- Mature Lean-Agile principles and practices throughout the organization and foster an innovative environment for talent to thrive
- Effectively communicate and establish partnerships across at levels of the organization from intern to executive.
What Skills/Qualifications Do You Need?
Education/Certifications
- BA required; MBA or MS preferred.
- SAFe Program Consultant certification preferred
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of applied experience in analytics, data science or comparable positions that handle large/complex data sets, developing metrics, and relationship building
- Experience working in or partnering with Human Resources, Finance, Sales, Marketing and Operations organizations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate strategic intent and influence action
- Demonstrated understanding of the data lifecycle, exploratory data analysis, data stewardship and democratizing data
- Applied experience with analytics tools and techniques
- Applied experience in Agile frameworks or Lean Six Sigma
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and generating innovative solutions
- Excellent written communication, executive presentation skills, and data story telling
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial services industry experience or other highly regulated industry experience a plus
- Applied experience using statistical modeling and programming techniques to develop analytic solutions including solutions for unstructured data
- Familiarity with data management practices and data governance process
- Familiarity with natural language processing and deep learning techniques
