The Director of Biliteracy Curriculum Design is responsible for envisioning and Leading the design and development of biliteracy curriculum programmatic content for Age of Learning’s biliteracy products. The Director will oversee a team of internal and external curriculum designers and Subject Matter Experts, lead a variety of projects through collaboration with cross-functional partners, and work closely with curriculum department leadership to develop a vision for future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Design & Leadership: Envision and lead the curriculum and programmatic design, creation, evaluation, and ongoing refinement of our digital, mastery-based Spanish/English Biliteracy reading program.
  • Team Management: Build and oversee a team of internal curriculum specialists, external vendors, and Subject Matter Experts across projects spanning core curriculum areas.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, curriculum designers, and production partners, ensuring alignment with our proprietary design methodologies, curriculum design best practices, state and international learning standards, and company goals.
  • Training & Support: Develop professional training and onboarding opportuntities and programs for the curriculum design team.
  • Evaluation: Work with the curriculum design team, as well as with other stakeholders (e.g., Production team; Efficacy team; Data analytics team) to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum design at macro and micro levels, and coordinate and oversee plans for iteration and improvement of the curriculum design.
  • Research & Development: Stay current on trends in education, curriculum design, and child development, specifically as related to biliteracy education. Engage in research initiatives and literature reviews relevant to biliteracy education.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders at all levels of the company organization
  • Budget Management: Define program and fiscal needs, ensuring responsible fiscal control over program budgets.
  • Compliance: Ensure federal and state laws concerning bilingual education are observed and that school improvement efforts align with these laws.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training programs, professional organizations, and disseminate relevant information to professionals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree (e.g., Masters or PhD) in Bilingual Education or Spanish Language Literacy, Curriculum Design, or related field.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Spanish literacy and Dual Language / Biliteracy curriculum development for U.S. K-12 Education, with an emphasis on Prek – 5th grade.
  • Minimum of 5 years classroom experience teaching elementary subjects, with an emphasis on biliteracy
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in curriculum development.
  • The Learning Sciences; Digitial Learning; ESL; and Bilingual Education, Dual Immersion, & Spanisl Language Learning Methodologies, especially in the states of Texas, California, Florida, Colorado, etc.
  • Travel required up to 35% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or additional graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Curriculum Development, Learning Sciences, Child development, etc.)
  • Experience designing bilingual and/or Spanish language literacy education programs from inception to implementation
  • Published work or presentations in the area of bilingual education or curriculum design; recognized thought-leader in the field
