Director of Business Analytics
Job Description
We're looking for a Business Analytics & Intelligence leader to hire, formalize and scale our analytics function at Workhuman. We have over 100M+ customer points of data and need a leader to help build out the analytics function, as we formalize the structure within the teams including Analytics Engineering and Business Intelligence. The right person will have a history of working with senior leadership across the organization to build trusted relationships, understanding analytics needs, and building programs which uncover meaningful insights into drivers of the business, while enabling a distributed group of finance analysts within the organization to support the operational data needs of their teams. You'll be the primary champion of data culture for the organization, ensuring we are measuring the right things and enabling data-driven decision making throughout the company. This role is a mix of strategic and tactical components, with a strong bias towards the former.
This position will report to the Vice President of Finance, Strategy and Business Operations.
Responsibilities:
- This role will work closely with our Product, Engineering and FP&A teams to understand how customer usage impacts our financial metrics, Sales and Marketing to understand the effectiveness of strategies to generate new customers and revenue, and several other teams to enable data-driven decision making.
- Acting as Analytics Partners for various teams across Workhuman to provide actionable data and insights about the levers of our business
- Partner with all business leads to deliver data-driven insights and recommendations
- Build and lead teams of data/analytics engineers and business intelligence professionals that will help uncover business insights and guide decision making.
- Help us leverage our data - bring industry know-how and insights into Workhuman's understanding of its data and potential usage for empowering the various business units
- Developed customer-level P&Ls enabling deeper insights into profitability by customer segment and partnered with Data Science to generate machine learning models to provide insight and strategy to customer success team members (discounting guidelines, likelihood of churn, etc.)
- Work closely with Finance, Customer Success, Product to create models for several what-if scenarios revolving around strategic initiatives for both short and long-term planning and present recommendations to C-suite.
- Ensure the highest standards and consistency of data and analytics.
- Built a modern analytics stack and Business Analytics and Data Engineering teams to meet data and reporting needs for entire company
- Responsible for companywide data strategy, building and managing team of data analysts and ensuring all critical business decisions are data driven
- Drive adoption to BI reporting solutions - ramping entire company from no BI software to appropriate users from entire employee population
- Leverage SaaS product usage data to quantitatively understand customer use cases allowing Customer Success to target specific expansion use cases within existing customer base for incremental spend (either per user or per company), as new features are released dependent upon their current environment, etc.
Role Qualifications & Desires:
- 6 to 10 years work experience in analytics/data science/business intelligence capacity
- Extensive individual experience with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales and Finance analytics
- Build & lead teams of data/analytics engineers and business intelligence professionals that will help uncover business insights and guide decision making
- Capable of explaining the most complex models in a succinct and digestible manner
- Strong understanding of best practices and KPIs around e-commerce, transactional and subscription-based products
- Demonstrated experience using complex data sets and building impactful analytics frameworks that scale
- Outstanding business sense with an understanding of business drivers and how to drive meaningful and actionable insights from data.
- End to end understanding of BI systems architecture: from interaction with backend systems thru front end dashboards and reports
- Hands-on experience with reporting and data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, etc.
- A team player who excels in a collaborative work environment
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication; adept at communicating across multiple mediums to technical and non-technical audiences
