Job Description

As a Director of Business Development, you will drive and establish partnerships within this space. This is vital in the partnership, where you will be uniquely positioned to grow Melio’s business exponentially. You will lead strategic planning, negotiation, and new partnership development with the most significant marketplaces, SaaS companies, and more. 

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Ensure best-in-class, methodical deal management rooted in milestone management, KPIs, and alignment with partners on opportunities of mutual interest
  • Develop and grow the business development team and Melio's relationships with partners, including their senior executives - Leverage industry knowledge to craft and drive both internal and external alignment on thoughtful strategies for forging partnerships between Melio and its partners.
  • Navigate external stakeholders, in partnership with internal teams, to execute deals supporting Melio's long-term strategy.
  • This role includes managing partnerships that use existing payment products and developing and launching new approaches to faster, more reliable, and cost-effective payment solutions.

What we’d love to see: 

  • 10+ years of partnerships experience; at least 6 years building and managing high-performing teams; and at least 4 years of payments experience
  • Thorough understanding of B2B payments, SaaS models, and marketplaces
  • Strategic and product creativity to collaborate with internal and external leaders to develop new models for embedded payments solutions
  • A strong track record of leading impactful partnership teams in a product-centric environment with significant internal and external dependencies
  • Broad and deep experience executing industry-wide partnership strategies to build innovative product experiences and go-to-market models
  • Experience negotiating commercial deals with top companies, including scaling such deals across multiple partners
  • Strong executive presence, with the proven ability to influence senior leaders internally and externally, including at the C level
  • An operationally focused mindset, with an ability to lead teams through complex relationship management activities by setting a clear vision and running tight processes
  • Strong team sense with the ability to work strategically and in a hands-on fashion
  • Most importantly, a person who enjoys their work and can take pride in it

Compensation, Benefits and Perks:

  • Base compensation range is $204,000 - $240,000
