BillionToOne, ranked at the top 5% of Y Combinator companies with $250M+ in funding from prominent VC firms, has developed a DNA molecular counter that increases cfDNA diagnostic resolution by over 1,000 fold. BillionToOne's first product, UNITY™ is the first and only non-invasive prenatal test that can directly screen an unborn baby's risk for common and severe recessive gene disorders and chromosomal abnormalities, as well as fetal sex and fetal antigens, from a single tube of blood from the pregnant mother without paternal testing.

In 2023, BillionToOne launched two liquid biopsy products that will markedly improve oncology treatment and care. With Northstar Select™, clinicians will be able to select cancer therapies that will be most effective to each patient based on their individual genetic makeup. Northstar Response™ will enable clinicians to monitor a patient’s early response to these cancer therapies, by measuring minute changes in their ctDNA, which can reduce ineffective treatments and unwanted toxicity, lower costs, and substantially improve clinical outcomes.

The Director of Business Development is a dynamic, newly created position that will drive business development and expansion for BillionToOne’s flagship product, UNITY™, at large hospital systems, IDNs, and private equity groups, throughout your region. As the first and only NIPT, single-gene carrier, aneuploidy, and fetal antigen screen, UNITY™ has distinguished itself as the gold standard-of-care for prenatal screening and is transforming the landscape of prenatal diagnostics. This position is highly visible and will liaise with all levels of key decision makers at target clients. The Director, Business Development is a remote position with initial travel anticipated to be ~25-50%.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with executive management to develop a comprehensive, data-driven business development strategy throughout your region
  • Analyze potential opportunities and develop individualized sales plans for each target account  
  • Structure proposals and negotiate final deal terms
  • Manage follow-up related to the deal and completion of written agreements
  • Enhance ongoing relationships with client organizations, and monitor customer satisfaction with proactive and consistent communication
  • Use data to analyze sales results, identify industry trends, and stay abreast of the competitive landscape to increase expansion opportunities

Requirements:

  • Minimum (5) years of experience closing business within large hospital systems or IDNs throughout your region with focus on women’s health (ie. targeting Heads of OBGYN, Heads of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Heads of Prenatal Genetic Counseling, etc.)
  • Demonstrated and consistent track record of sales success (eg. President’s Club, Chairman’s Club, Circle of Excellence or equivalent national awards required), solid negotiation and closing skills, strong data analysis skills, understanding of buyer/decision maker types, exhibit effective selling, listening, presentation skills, strong focus on pull through, and solid follow through skills
  • Ability to communicate with C-Suite with strong clinical and business acumen (written and verbal), and demonstrated ability to effectively present to both internal and external customers.
  • Familiarity with the payor and reimbursement environment in the molecular diagnostics space
  • Effective time management skills with a demonstrated ability to assess and prioritize opportunities
  • Exceptionally bright, flexible, self-motivated and results-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to think strategically as well as execute tactically
  • Must act with a sense of urgency, with a focus on closing business
  • Ability to assess the needs of executives and providers at large health systems with a focus on consultative sales, coordination of logistics, and creative problem solving
  • Strong desire to manage new business development opportunities for strategic accounts in a startup environment

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range + uncapped sales commissions (2) generous equity options offering, on top of (3) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid parental leave etc.).

This position offers an annual compensation package which includes a base pay of $160,000 in combination with quarterly sales commissions, which is uncapped and can be significant.
