Director of Business Development
Job Description
Position Summary
Advanced Nutrients is looking for a Director of Business Development who will be responsible for developing and closing prospective customer opportunities with licensed commercial cannabis cultivation facilities and helping the Field Sales Team expand business with key retailers. The ideal candidate should have experience in the cannabis industry and a proven track record of successful sales and business development. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Field Sales team and the Cultivation Advisory team to develop leads and convert opportunities into customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and manage relationships with potential customers in the commercial cannabis cultivation space.
- Develop sales strategies for new and existing customers, and work closely with Regional Sales leaders and Field Sales teams to implement.
- Work with local market sales teams to negotiate terms and close contracts with customers.
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities using CRM and related productivity tools.
- Actively support field sales teams in providing feedback and support to customers, and connections to non-competitive product suppliers.
- Research and identify new business opportunities and market trends and provide regular reports to VP of Sales.
- Monitor competition and industry trends, prepare competitive intelligence reports, and share information on weekly team calls.
- Submit new product recommendations to R&D and Product Management via online submission form
- Support VP of Sales in developing and implementing promotional activities.
- Participate in trade shows and other industry events.
- Collaborate with VP of Sales and marketing team in developing and executing innovative sales and marketing campaigns.
- Prepare presentations and other materials to support sales activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 5+ years of experience in sales and business development.
- Bachelorβs degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred (Alternatively, 10+ years of experience in related roles).
- Highly experienced with daily use of CRM systems
- Comfortable with daily use of email, calendaring, Microsoft Office Suite, and related productivity and collaboration tools
- Proven track record of sales and business development success
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think strategically and creatively
