We built Tempus to collect, structure, and organize data from disparate sources to power innovation and discovery. And now we are looking for a Directer of Business Development, AI Apps role to join our rapidly growing AI Apps Commercial team. This role will focus on creating and expanding our global client relationships with some of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical and medical device companies.

The Directer of Business Development, AI Apps role is responsible for cultivating and growing Tempus partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device clients to support them in advancing their research, clinical and/or commercial programs.  The Directer of Business Development, AI Apps will work cross-functionally with Tempus stakeholders to establish Tempus as the AI enabled Precision Medicine partner with life sciences customers. 


Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with life sciences executives across pre-clinical, clinical and commercial roles
  • Develop and drive life sciences account strategy in coordination with Tempus commercial, medical, technical and other internal teams
  • Deliver presentations with senior leaders at potential partners to identify customer needs, present Tempus’ capabilities and develop a joint visions of success
  • Manage sales opportunity pipeline from lead generation through contract execution
  • Structure and negotiate contracts, including in cases where a creative and novel approach is required
  • Meet and exceed revenue goals for AI Apps product offerings while delivering on strategic objectives 
  • Support refinement of Tempus offerings, commercial strategy and partnership models based on customer needs, Tempus capabilities  and market dynamics
  • Collect and share customer feedback with cross functional teams at Tempus to inform product development
  • Travel approximately 25% of working time

Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial sales approach that thrives in a high growth, rapidly evolving business environment
  • Deep relationships with biopharma and/or medical device companies
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and compelling way to customers and to internal teams
  • Exceptional account management, articulation of issues and an ability to navigate a wide range of stakeholders to solve problems in complex customer organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority (both with internal and external stakeholders)
  • Proactive mindset that bridges ideas to implementable solutions, and can help move both internal and external stakeholders to quickly solve problems
  • Collaborative team member who is eager to work closely with Tempus team members, both within and outside the AI Apps commercial team
  • Eagerness and ability to learn scientific and technical concepts quickly

Experience

  • 10+ years in Business Development or Sales as lead account and relationship manager 
  • Preferably 5+ years selling to Life Sciences companies in a Business Development or Sales role focused on real world data, genetics or clinical workflow solutions
  • Proven track record of establishing credibility as a trusted advisor with clients
  • Experience negotiating and closing large and complex multi-year deals
  • Understanding of the drug development process, AI, clinical data and clinical workflows
