Director of Buying

Direction and daily management of 1800Flowers sourcing and buyer team members and their related workflows. Responsibilities include perishable and hardgood categories: availability, quotes, cost management, preplanning commitments, buy timelines as well as closed loop PO cycle invoice reconciliation.

Hardgoods: Not limited to domestic corrugate, packaging and label suppliers.

Perishable: Not limited to cut flowers, potted plants, strawberries, confections (cakes, chocolate, etc).

Performs centralized sourcing in support of Product Development, BloomNet and Corporate Gift Services initiatives with Procurement availability and quotes.

Ensures SOX compliant Req to PO buy processes across all direct ship Shari's floral, gifts, hardgoods and plants categories.

Responsible for buying activities including RFQ RFP management with floral industry freshcut, potted plant, Shari's and hardgood suppliers as well as supply material vendors. Ensures supplier cost negotiations, analysis, and record management to facilitate accurate and timely cost projection analysis and buying activities.

Provides proactive availability and costs to cross functional team line lists activities.

Works cooperatively with buyers to provide quote back-up in support of accounting issue resolution.

Provides daily business updates to VP of Procurement including buying department project status, workflows. Participates in daily staff meetings and executes good communication practices.

Ensures core attendance policies, remain open to new processes and initiatives, and executes all other activities set forth by the VP of Procurement

Requirements

Bachelor's in business administration

10 years buying experience working in large corporate environment.

Buyer Management Experience.

Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Access Powerpoint.

Strong cost analytical skills vital.

Systems experience a plus: Oracle, iSupplier, iTradenetwork

Professional verbal and written skills, time management and organizational skills.

Detail oriented, ability to manage diverse processes while not losing sight of evolving goals and priorities.

Ability to read and speak English proficiently.

Ability to understand and follow English instructions.

Strong negotiation skills.
