We are looking for a dynamic and impactful professional to join our Global Corporate Communications team. Our team works to drive BlackRock's commercial priorities while also protecting and enhancing the firm's reputation.

Your team

You will be a member of the Americas Corporate Communications team, reporting to the Head of Commercial Communications.

Job description:

The Corporate Communications Director, based in New York, will be responsible for planning and sometimes executing impactful communications initiatives, including proactive, commercially oriented campaigns, as well as managing corporate and reputation risk. This includes overseeing a team responsible for developing and executing communications initiatives in the Americas that supports BlackRock's client business (U.S. Wealth Advisory, Institutional Client Business), BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group, BlackRock's Retirement group and the BlackRock Investment Institute.

What will you be doing?

  • Partnering closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders to help drive demand for BlackRock's commercial priorities, promote BlackRock's investment and market views.
  • Developing strong working relationships with business/financial and trade media across channels (print, broadcast, digital and social).
  • Set the broader communications strategy in partnership with the day-to-day team leads, flexing from time to time into execution.
  • Collaborate with communications colleagues across the globe to understand the work the team does - externally and internally - to inform and shape commercial programs in the Americas.
  • Work in lockstep with the Corporate Affairs team on reputational and risk issues as it relates to commercial priorities.
  • From time to time, this role will manage big campaigns or initiatives that cut across Corporate Communications.
  • The role is primarily focused on managing and executing these activities in the United States with the opportunity to also oversee Latin American and/or Canada in the future (pending qualifications).

What are we looking for?

  • 10-12 years' experience in corporate communications within the financial services industry and/or agency.
  • Understanding of the asset management industry, investment products and strategies, capital markets and issues facing institutional and retail investors.
  • A strong storyteller with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong people management skills and proven track record in setting processes that scale.

  • Strong track record of media relations, relationships with influential journalists and media specializing in financial markets, and multi-channel campaign execution.
  • Understanding of KPIs that demonstrate impact.
  • A team-player and self-starter, with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic who is willing to roll up their sleeves.
  • Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $199,500 - $240,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our benefits

To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock's current hybrid work model is designed to enable in-person connections and collaboration that is core to our culture, while supporting increased flexibility for all employees. In line with local health guidance and regulations, employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. The health, safety and well-being of our people will always be our top priorities; we will continue to monitor local conditions and health advisories in making decisions about our work environments.
