Our office is currently remote. Forbes aims to offer employees the flexibility they need in order to be successful. Upon our return to the office, the expectation is that this role can be based out of Jersey City, NJ, offering a hybrid work schedule, or can be fully remote.
We are seeking an attorney to function as a compliance officer who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of our compliance program. The candidate will be a member of the Legal Department and work with other groups to drive ownership and accountability with compliance controls, training, and business practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee Forbes corporate-wide compliance program.
- Regularly assess risk areas and provide recommendations to enhance the compliance program.
- Maintain ethics and compliance program records.
- Creating and coordinating proper reporting channels for compliance issues
- Participation in compliance issue resolution and investigation.
- Assist with quarterly compliance update for senior management and the Board.
- Develop reports as requested by leadership.
- Assist with the development and delivery of communications, training and programs related to ethics and compliance.
- Provide assistance to management in the formulation of forms and disclosure documents for compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Manage communications with and notifications to suppliers and contractors regarding the company’s code of conduct and ethical expectations, especially regarding gifts, travel, and entertainment.
- Assure annual updating, distribution, and certification of the code of conduct and ethics, track and report on annual code of conduct training.
- Coordinating and scheduling required compliance training for employees.
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of and experience with principles of corporate governance, compliance and ethics and risk management.
- Prior experience with regulatory filings, reports, and public company disclosure.
- Proven business judgment, initiative, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and credibility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and prioritize workload with tight deadlines.
Education/other Requirements
- Admission to the Bar in the state of New York or New Jersey.
- Six to eight years working in a public company regulatory or compliance environment or a law firm working on public company compliance matters.
