Job Description
Cedar is seeking an experienced healthcare compliance professional to lead our compliance function, including enhancing, scaling and maintaining our compliance programs. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the compliance function at a high-growth company. The Director of Compliance will report to the General Counsel. Preference for candidates willing to work in office at least 2 days/week from New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Create and drive a long-term strategy and structure for Cedar' Compliance function, and establish metrics and monitoring processes to demonstrate effectiveness of the Compliance function.
- Manage Cedar's compliance policies, guidance, SOPs and training, in accordance with growing and evolving business needs and applicable regulations.
- Support spot or company-wide audits of the compliance program, including HITRUST, SOC2, ISO and PCI audit engagement, data/artifact collection, exception remediation and monitoring.
- Oversee compliance regarding Cedar's interactions an d arrangements with providers, insurance companies and our network of vendors and other significant business partners.
- Identify new and emerging risks within the business and respond with a risk posture calibrated to business needs, including enabling innovation and growth imperatives.
- Supervise compliance investigations from intake to resolution; collaborate with other functions and departments to provide recommendations; and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Design and deliver meaningful and effective presentations to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Manage and develop a team of compliance professionals that are responsible for conducting the day-to-day compliance processes, as well as serve as a first-level escalation point for questions and issues.
- Work with outside counsel, consultants, and vendors and recommend such partnering if and when needed.
- Collaborate with your teammates; learn from them and teach them.
Required Skills & Experience
- At least 10 years of relevant compliance experience
- J.D. or other advanced degree preferred; Certification in Healthcare Compliance and Healthcare Privacy or similar certification
- Demonstrated success building and leading a healthcare or healthcare-adjacent compliance program
- In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, standards and guidelines applicable to healthcare businesses, including privacy and data security (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2, PCI, NIST), medical billing and anti-kickback statutes
- Demonstrable experience in leadership, project management and problem-solving are essential
- Ability to recognize compliance risk and develop pragmatic, workable strategies to mitigate such risk
- Self-starter, who exhibits a "can do" attitude to prioritize and direct limited resources to the most critical areas and issues; build solid, collaborative working relationships across multiple functions and levels of management; and drive improvement initiatives with a sense of urgency
- Desire to be a leader in the compliance industry and champion for compliance within the organization
