About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Director of Content Strategy to join our rapidly growing company and drive a world-class marketing and content strategy.
This person will play a foundational part in building the company's content department, helping to drive the company's marketing strategy by working alongside functional leads to define content priorities that build awareness, drive pipeline and accelerate deal cycles. This person should also be an exceptional writer who can successfully manage the full cycle of content-long-form and short-form-from ideation to execution.
The Director of Content Strategy will report to the Senior Director of Industry Strategy at Ontra and inherit a team of two.
What you'll do
- Management: Manage and grow a team focused on written and video content production, including identifying and hiring freelance writers
- Strategy definition: Understand Ontra's overarching business strategy and develop a content strategy that supports key company initiatives
- Idea generation: Work with functional leads to determine content gaps and recommend topic ideas based on key business and user insights; apply strategic planning skills to create a long-term vision for content that advances business objectives
- Content creation: Serve as the content lead for content across all funnel stages, including developing a content calendar and managing the execution of its objectives, and creating exceptional long-form content like white papers, guides, and reports
- Optimization: Partner with marketing operations and digital marketing to optimize content across the digital journey
- Reporting: Measure content KPIs on a monthly basis with respect to month-over-month growth and high level performance for senior management
- Collaboration : Become a trusted content creator to our Sales, Account Management, Marketing, and Product teams
What you'll bring
- Experience: 6+ years of content development and strategy experience, including 4+ years of editorial oversight
- People Management: 4+ years of people management experience, including hiring and building out a team
- Strong Written Communication: Ability to write at a high level across a variety of marketing materials including white papers, blog posts, emails, and direct response ads
- Strategic & Quantitative: Can envision outcomes, define metrics to gauge success, and then execute on a set of initiatives to achieve desired outcomes, while also analyzing content-related metrics to identify sources of strength and weaknesses and then formulating plans to respond
- Attention to Detail: Does not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project; ensures content is error-free prior to submission
- Collaborative : Strong internal communicator who can work with various departments and functional leads
- Adaptability : Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions; copes effectively with complexity and change
- Intellectually Curious : Proactively monitors industry trends and contemplates how evolving market conditions impact our company and our customers, while continually expanding their understanding of the industry and applying learnings to content projects
