Director of Credit

The Director of Credit will lead the credit professionals in the distribution segment of business operations. The Director of Credit will work collaboratively with all sales professionals to build and foster customer relationships. In addition, the Director will focus on branch location accounting issues and audits, general ledgers, reviews of accounts payable, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets.

Responsibilities

• Foster strong business partnerships with key departments in the organization, specifically: Accounting, Operations, and Sales.
• Ensure the timely collection of payments from Customers.
• Resolve customer disputes.
• Assist and provide direction to the collection team including coaching and training.
• Work closely with the accounting team on related receivable accounting tasks.
• Generate write-offs on accounts deemed uncollectible.
• Approve account adjustments within established guidelines.
• Review delinquency reports.
• Oversee all aspects of cash receipt and application procedures.
• Handle problem collection accounts to insure collectability.
• Responsible for all department personnel matters including, PTO approvals, performance reviews, one-to-one meetings, and recommendations to HR for any personnel changes.
• Review all contracts and purchase orders and make appropriate changes.
• Handle correspondence with attorneys on accounts placed for collection.
• Customer visitation to resolve issues and foster new sales opportunities.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or related discipline 
• Credit and collections experience
• Experience in sales and operations
• Prior team leadership experience or demonstrate the ability to lead a team.
• Basic understanding of accounting principals
