Job Description

Campus Ink is seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Design (Apparel) to join our team. This person will help strengthen our brand point-of-view and elevate products through market trend insights, innovative designs & a consumer-focused mindset. Tactically, this position is responsible for owning the vision & direction for apparel art and leading the development of Urban Champs, our in-house jersey and custom apparel line. You will collaborate closely with marketing on creative direction and content development, balancing brand vision with new opportunities that elevate sales, resonate with customers, and meet high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a clear vision for brand creative; taking into account internal project briefs, client requests, licensing agreements, market trends, and production constraints.
  • Collaborate with partners, universities, & athletes to understand unique design goals and provide expert input while delivering upon requests.
  • Manage relationships with manufacturers and continue to build vendor matrix by sourcing new and relevant partnerships that are in line with financial targets.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging design techniques to keep products fresh and competitive.
  • Develop & oversee the quality control process to ensure that all designs meet our high standards and are production-ready.
  • Have a strong understanding of various apparel printing techniques and limitations and the ability to adapt designs accordingly.
  • Efficiently manage the design workflow across teams, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead and develop the skills of the design team, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Apparel Design, Graphic Design, Merchandising or similar).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of creative work.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools (Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator, Figma, Canva, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with apparel printing and decorating techniques and processes.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a creative team.
