Job Description

  • Represent voice of DTC consumer on BU growth team (a seat at the table) and participate on the DTC growth team. Provide input at seasonal line architecture that meets of the needs by DTC channel and that aligns with the segmented line strategy.
  • Set assortment and establish price to sell in all owned channels, curated from the overall seasonal line that the DTC merchant assists in curating. Product strategy will line up with financial targets and will drive traffic and conversion on line and in store.
  • Develop "DTC exclusives" to for owned channels, including mid-season test & learns, holiday promotions, exclusive products, and potential collaborations (if applicable). Own the Product Comp calendar so that sales plans are achieved
  • Develop perspective on white space opportunities and owned channel assortment needs accounting for Omni-Channel opportunities; provide input early in seasonal development process. Understand trends within DTC and other competitors that need to be offered in our DTC channel
  • Drive connectivity and alignment between BU offering teams and DTC team . Establish seasonal big ideas and work with site managers and stores to be key items of the season.
  • DTC merchant provides input to Site and Store Visual Merchandising teams to merchandise assortment. Merchant brings back to the growth team any site or store needs to drive POS, including POS materials and fixtures.
  • DTC merchant acts as interface to Merch Ops / Planning team to inform demand plan for owned channels. Provides input into the planning process on assortments and like items for product forecasting. Comp key events and drive incremental opportunities.
  • Direct Reports subject to business needs. Coach, mentor and drive decision making by empowering and providing opportunities for exposure and growth.

The Director DTC Merchant will report to the SVP Champion NA and will be based in our company headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C. This role is a key leader in delivering the Hanes Full Potential plan. The deliverables for this role will be the lead on defining the seasonal merchandising and pricing assortments across DTC channels, collaborating with cross functional teams to plan and execute the strategy, while placing the DTC consumer at the forefront of every decision.

Champion will grow DTC to a minimum of 20% of our revenue and this role will provide the product foundation for the growth. Segmenting assortments by DTC channel, focusing on defining seasonal big ideas and partnering with the site and store teams to optimize the sell throughs, will fuel the growth. The incumbent will have full merchandising and pricing accountabilities and will be a part of the core growth team that insures the product needs of DTC are met. Managing performance of the seasonal collections, identifying trends and coordinating with the store regionals on consumer feedback should be used as a guide for future needs. Extensive cross category engagement with a problem solving approach is required.

Qualifications

  • Required Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree required
  • Required Years of Experience: 10 years relevant work experience
  • Preferred Education/Certification: Master's degree preferred
  • Proven record of successful business growth. Highly consumer-centric, identifies trend, and optimizes assortment based on consumer inputs from multiple consumer touchpoints
  • Deep experience with omni-channel/unified commerce organizations, with a passionate focus on merchandise as a consumer advocate.
  • Strong product and operational knowledge with proven experience in driving conversion and partnering cross-functionally to drive the business.
  • Experience analyzing business opportunities. Specifically, experience understanding and applying learnings to drive consistent results.
  • High level of analytical skills and conceptual creative ability
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop institutional policies/procedures and effect change
  • Proven experience building iconic brands
  • Experience in leveraging consumer data to drive sales growth.
  • Experience building line for DTC to achieve sales and Gross Margin objectives
  • Strategic thinker who recognizes opportunities and can influence decision makers to move to execution using both quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Team player that collaborates cross functionally withing the growth team and DTC team
