Summary
The Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion is responsible for leading the long-term planning and execution of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ("DEI") strategies across the SDI, driving an enterprise-wide culture of inclusion and engagement across the business platform. Specifically, He/she will possess the skills to design, develop and implement innovative diversity and inclusion strategies focusing on attracting, engaging and retaining a talented workforce; addressing the unique needs of existing and prospective customers; identifying opportunities for diverse suppliers to do business with the SDI and for the SDI to do business with other diverse suppliers; and effectively engage the communities where the company operates. The role will be internally and externally focused, with a focus on diversity and inclusion always at the forefront of our business.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, drive, and deliver an integrated DEI strategy, with demonstrable and measurable results.
  • Increase the level of diversity awareness and commitments to hire diverse candidates, engaging senior level champions and gaining their commitment to participate in furthering an inclusive workplace, execute diverse recruitment, talent development and talent movement tactics, support the acquisition and retention of diverse suppliers and actively participate in DEI activities.
  • Have a clear understanding of the business needs and an ability to develop and communicate the business case for DEI.
  • Develop and implement measurable diversity initiatives and strategies to achieve the assigned business goals with a focus on integrating such measures into current business processes, performance management and compensation targets.
  • Influence and partner with business leaders to assist in the development and maintenance of a Corporate Diversity Strategy that aligns with business goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for leading and in some cases, co-leading community outreach efforts that drive the company's DEI strategy.
  • Lead and participate in critical diversity events locally and nationally that provide voice to the importance of the work SDI does in the diversity space.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with critical industry thought leaders to remain current with industry best practices and identifiable enterprise-applicable ideas.
  • Manage the corporate inclusion agenda and foster best-practice sharing through the KPIs, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives, and diversity-inclusion and goals.
  • Provide expertise to help teams build inclusive and respectful cultures, leveraging the diversity in their teams to ensure creativity, innovation, productivity, excellent customer service, effective community engagement, productive relationships with diverse supplier and highly satisfactory work environments.
  • Work closely with senior executives, internal communication, and human resource functions to provide resources and tools in support of action plans, key initiatives, goals, and objectives.
  • Support decisions through the application of appropriate market and industry benchmarks, as well as internal tracking and monitoring systems.
  • Benchmark external diversity-inclusion programs and initiatives and recommend/implement inclusion best practices, as appropriate. Ensure that SDI continually enhances its reputation as a diversity-inclusion leader and benchmark against other best in class companies

Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership and business experience with at least 5 years of diversity and inclusion leadership experience; at least 5 years of direct management experience, with a passion for inclusion strategy, employee engagement and leadership development; experience in the information technology or related industry; experience in community engagement is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience building and executing a successful, scalable, programmatic, and cohesive DEI agenda in a complex work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect the DEI agenda both internally and externally with company's broader community engagement, marketing, communications, supplier diversity, performance management, and compensation programs.
  • Evidence developing and implementing industry-leading best-practices in relation to inclusion, employee engagement and learning/education.
  • Success in building and articulating the business case for DEI strategies and programs at a senior level, providing ROI measurement and tying outcomes to business.
  • Breadth and depth of experience in leading change within complex and diverse SDIs and cultures.
  • Outstanding communication skills - oral, written and presentation.
