Job Summary

The Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) reports to the Sr. Director, Global DEI and is responsible for helping to shape and lead the implementation of DEI enterprise strategy, programs, and initiatives. This role will work cross-functionally to support DEI goals, plan and communicate initiatives and events, and enable operational and strategic excellence of the Flex DEI team. The Director, DEI is responsible to provide direction and oversight for Flex ERGs and our DEI governance teams. This role is also responsible for tracking and reporting I&D metrics and progress, partnering across HR and business teams.

This position is ideally based in San Jose, CA or Austin, TX, but we are open to remote options for the right candidate (regular travel to these locations will be required, as policies/practices permit).

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:
  • Provide input to DEI strategy, direction and priorities, and share DEI vision, roadmap and goals across business, HR and ERG teams
  • Provide oversight and management of Flex initiatives and leader training to build skills, capability and opportunities for under-represented talent, in partnership with Talent Management
  • Provide leadership and support for DEI initiatives and events across ERGs and at the global level
  • Partner with HR teams to integrate key concepts of equity, allyship, inclusion, and diversity into existing talent management programs, learning and development, recruitment efforts, policies and practices
  • Be a strong voice for inclusion and diversity at Flex across multiple stakeholders partnering effectively and regularly with internal partners
  • Provide leadership and support to the Flex Employee Resource Group (ERG)s to empower and strengthen our internal communities
  • Research and provide DEI subject matter expertise, strategic planning, thought leadership, coaching, education and consultancy to HR and leaders to drive key DEI business outcomes
  • Partner with People Analytics and HR Teams to measure the impact and effectiveness of D&I initiatives, create actionable insights, and provide quarterly updates
  • Provide DEI expertise and perspective in definition and implementation of enterprise engagement strategy and approach, employee value proposition and other measurement tools/processes
  • Support development of DEI related training and capability building efforts, in partnership with Talent Management
  • Assist in planning and managing DEI budget and budget process for ERGs and initiatives
  • Effectively manage DEI team members, directing their work and providing coaching and development


Here is some of what you'll need (required):
  • 5+ years of DEI work experience with a global perspective
  • Strong business acumen and a track record of leading & delivering global efforts
  • Ability to link DEI to company objectives, including making a business case for investments
  • Experience liaising with HR teams to drive diversity results- specifically in diversity recruiting, diverse talent management, advancement and retention programs
  • Proficient in data analysis, determining return on investment of programs, and tracking diversity metrics globally
  • Strong interpersonal communication, consulting, facilitation, influencing and people leadership skills
  • Project/program management skills
  • Passionate about D&I: Influencer with ability to reach across organizational boundaries to solve problems and build alignment
  • Strong organization change management experience
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with a sharp eye for visual branding and storytelling


Here is some of our preferred experiences and skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience in the HR field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in HR, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. Workday) will be a plus
  • A genuine belief in people and coaching abilities with diverse individuals, ideas, and teams
  • A utility player and teammate; willing to help wherever needed
  • Strategic mindset with a disposition towards action and creative problem solving
  • Possess a mix of intellectual curiosity, creative thinking and pragmatism
