Position Summary

The Director of eCommerce optimizes Commerce technologies and third-party platforms with the ability to interpret quantitative data sets including a strong understanding of online metrics, and experience with Google Analytics. They demonstrate strategic business planning, financial, and resource management skills. They thrive in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial, high-energy environment that requires the ability to multi-task and implement high-priority initiatives. The Director of eCommerce has a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships to achieve business outcomes. They have excellent people and project management skills, and the ability to structure work and lead a diverse team of both internal and external resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership – Defines and delivers the vision, business plan, roadmap and key metric objectives for the expansion of Shinola’s owned eCommerce channel capabilities, partnering with other critical, supporting functions to ensure internal company-wide alignment
  • Site Operations – Leads the day-to-day activities of running an eCommerce business including web store development and enhancements, merchandising/assortment plans, marketing/promotions, inventory management, and order fulfillment/logistics.
  • Omni-Channel Coordination – Interacts with and coordinates multiple business functions to incorporate eCommerce activities and requirements into key business functions, including but not limited to Retail Operations, Customer Experience, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Product/Merchandising Teams
  • Channel Partner Management – In partnership with Business Unit/Sales leadership, participates and coordinates owned eCommerce strategies/plans with wholesale eCommerce partner initiatives to maximize/optimize performance across all channels
  • Analytical Acumen – Track and manage business KPIs to achieve eCommerce channel growth goals including Net Revenue/Sales, Gross Margin, Traffic, Transactions, Units, AOV, Conversion, Repeat and New Visitors, product performance, promotion performance, etc.
  • Technology Experience – Directs, negotiates, and informs business requirements of key technology partners/platforms; broad technological experience and hands-on engagement with industry-leading eCommerce platforms (i.e., Magento and Klaviyo)
  • Thought-Leader – Develops new and creative growth strategies leveraging new platforms and partners to ensure continuous learning and new opportunities for heightened consumer engagement and sources of profitable growth
  • Skilled Manager – Manages a small team of developers, merchandisers, analysts & UX contributors to rally and achieve eCommerce goals for the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Marketing, Digital, eCommerce, Finance, Computer Science
  • 10+ years’ experience in digital business, eCommerce, omni-channel retailing.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
