The Role

Bodo is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Director of Engineering with expertise in large-scale SQL query engines to lead the development of our groundbreaking data platform. If you possess an entrepreneurial spirit exceptional software design experience and a knack for turning ambitious technical ideas into reality this role is tailor-made for you. As a senior member of our engineering team you will have the opportunity to create software and services that outperform competitors by orders of magnitude while providing an effortless user experience. Responsibilities

• Lead development of the Bodo platform to be the fastest most efficient and most reliable data platform

• Drive technical excellence by implementing rigorous processes (architecture reviews testing) and fostering a culture of engineering excellence to ensure high standards and inspire continuous growth.

• Hands-on engineering alongside your teams as a technical leader.

• Support engineers in their career development by providing clear feedback and develop engineering leaders.

• Lead the team to design features that are coherent consistent and feel familiar to data engineers

• Lead various efforts in engine development and work with other engineering leaders in the product roadmapHelp hire and build world-class engineering teams at Bodo.ai

Qualifications

• BS or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field. Optional: PhD in databases compilers HPC or distributed systems

• 5+ years of experience with databases compilers HPC distributed systems  or cloud infrastructure development

• Must have start-up experience ideally with a company smaller than 20 employees

• Experience in writing production code (C++ Python etc.)Experience architecting and developing complex systems (databases compilers distributed systems …)

• Highly skilled in people management/development strong communication skills and impeccable attention to detail

• Team-oriented collaborative and able to implement important decisions.

• Can synthesize coherent plans and priorities from the inputs of the team and business partners.

• Great at hiring and developing high-caliber talent especially leadership
