You will be a technical leader overseeing several engineering sprint teams as they design, build, improve, and maintain our core products. In this role you will be largely hands off but should be close enough to our technology to troubleshoot complex problems, perform code review, and provide expert guidance to teams regarding system design.
Requirements
Your work at Outdoorsy:
- You collaborate with engineering, design, and product teams to produce high quality, resilient, useful, and secure products
- You ensure delivery of team commitments via leadership and mentorship
- Drive your teams to create specs, diagrams, and decision documents
- Work on strategic projects to reduce costs, increase quality, leverage a new tool or supplier, or decide on a new process.
- Communicate with a vendor to troubleshoot an existing integration
- Drive architectural decisions with an eye towards scalability, reuse, security, performance, and availability
- Align team resources and processes with strategic goals of our products and company
- Work with team leads on team leadership and team building. Take an active interest in building the careers of team members.
What you will bring to the table:
- Creative problem solver with a bias towards action
- 7+ years of experience
- Small company or startup experience is a plus
- Previous team leadership
- An ability and desire to be hands on
- Experience with our stack is plus
- GCP/AWS
- iOS / Android / Go / React
- Postgres / MySQL / Elasticsearch

Salary: $180,000 - $210,000 DOE
We continue to have our home and headquarters in Austin, Texas, but we have embraced a distributed model of working to reach the best talent in the United States and globally. While some roles may require proximity to our Austin office, roles based outside of our Austin office can sit in any of the following 21 US states: AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, MN, MO, MT, NV, OH, OK, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA and WV. The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with potentially applicable laws. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and bonus dependent upon position.
