Where You'll Come InThe Director of Engineering will be responsible for establishing the vision, mission, and strategy for the back of house operations at The Farmers Dog. This candidate will be leading the Platform, Data Engineering, Internal Operations, and Internal Customer Experience teams. They will also provide mentoring and support the development of direct reports and partner with other functions and stakeholders to collaborate on effective solutions. This individual should thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and should be eager to make an impact on our continued goal of making unconditional love into uncomplicated care for our pet friends!
How You'll Make An Impact- Responsible for growing and leading a geographically diverse team with the goal of leading a world class infrastructure and operations function focused on availability, scale, optimization, and security
- Develop strategic and subsequent tactical roadmaps specific to Data Platform, User Identity management, Fulfillment Operations, and developer infrastructure engineering
- Experience partnering with business and product teams to architect and strategize technology and platform road map
- Ability to lead an organization with data-driven business results in mind
- Experience setting long term vision and strategy with ability to establish department-wide goals
- Responsible for career development of teams and leaders
- Experienced with multi-service architecture and how to move away from them
- Experience developing systems at scale and understand the trade-offs of when to scale
- Clear and persuasive communicator of data-driven analyses and data methodologies to all audiences, regardless of the level of data comprehension
- Excellent communication, adaptability and collaboration skills
- Experience running Agile methodology and applying Agile at scale

Currently all hybrid team members are asked to be in the office for 2 Gathering Days a week to continue to build a collaborative, lively, and invested environment - a unique in-person culture we are proud of. Gathering Days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, however the office will be open and available for all Monday through Friday. This hybrid policy can be subject to change at company discretion.

We commit to building a competitive compensation package and company environment for all individuals to thrive. We believe in competitive base compensation rooted in location specific market data and performance along with equity ownership in the company that allows every team member to build their personal wealth as the company grows, just as much as we believe in fostering a culture that supports our team members personally, professionally, and holistically. For this role the anticipated hiring base compensation range is $200,000 - $245,000 USD Annual and the compensation offered will include a robust market competitive package of base and equity. In addition to your base compensation offer you will also receive equity ownership in the company. More information about the value of this equity will be shared at the time of offer. This range is representative of NYC Market Data if you are applying to this role outside of the NYC area the range may change.
