Director of Engineering - App

How we'll deliver success:

We are looking for  a seasoned engineering leader to drive Shippo’s engineering App strategy. The App is where our SMB customers can manage their shipping needs from an intuitive interface.  Its used by sole proprietors and growing brands hosted on Shopify Wix and other major platforms. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for leading and managing our entire App engineering function including billing orders and App Maintenance.

Shipping and handling responsibilities:

• Partner with Product Management to develop internal and external roadmaps for App engineering

• Mentoring engineering managers and be a leader that leads with the Shippo values front and center

• Direct software development and delivery efforts for high-performing technology solutions

• Lead and influence the vision of the product through software design and architecture

• Establish a culture of Operational Excellence and System Ownership

• Drive delivery through clear plans and execution status

• Develop and enhance software to address complex business problems focusing on customer experience

• Foster innovation to support business growth and improve service levels by applying best practices

• Provide engineering leadership and collaborate with senior levels across the organization

• Contribute to developing methods techniques and evaluation criteria for diverse projects

• Facilitate teams to create a highly collaborative environment

Requirements

• Deep technical knowledge with 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams and at least 5+ years leading engineering managers who are managing teams

• Strong communication skills to guide senior levels and cross-functional teams and exceptional ability to lead cross-functional projects

• Expert knowledge of software languages and platforms such as Python  Javascript and Go

• Experience managing monolithic and service based architectures

• Strategic thought leader and problem solver capable of developing creative solutions

• Previous experience with Shipping products or App based services is a plus

$210000 - $284000 a year

Our company Shipp olicy:

We believe compensation is a custom experience and are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard OTE range for this role is min $210 to a max $284k annual salary. Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere we have 2 US pay ranges  a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher such as NYC and California.

The actual pay is dependent upon many factors such as: financial budgets work experience training transferable skills business needs and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include equity medical dental vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.
