As the Director of Engineering at Applecart, your mission will be to continually optimize Applecart’s core targeting capabilities. You will help start and lead a new hybrid-remote team of software engineers dedicated to the continuous delivery of business value. Your team will create and maintain integrations with various external APIs, large batch data processing pipelines and entity resolution algorithms. At the onset, your responsibilities are primarily  focused on hands-on software development.

Who You Are

You are an experienced software developer with a mind for systems architecture. You help define and evangelize software engineering best practices and processes. You are also a seasoned people manager, who enjoys mentoring and cares deeply about the growth of your team members. You have a track record delivering robust technology in collaboration with Product managers. You are a problem-solver and engineer at heart.

Qualifications:

• You have 10+ years of professional software development experience, including back-end and data engineering
• You have technical leadership experience, specifically in agile environments
• You are a natural collaborator, adept at leading brainstorms, whiteboard sessions as well as pair programming
• You have designed ETL pipelines using distributed computing frameworks like Spark
• You have strong computer science fundamentals, as well as solid command of operational best practices (e.g. “clean” code, test-driven development, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, etc…)
• You have extensive experience hiring and managing software engineers
• You are a dedicated coach who leads with empathy and thrives by helping people perform and grow
• You are an excellent technical and cross-functional communicator

Preferred Qualifications:

• Your language of choice is Python
• AWS is your cloud platform of choice
• You have DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure experience

This is a hybrid role. Work from anywhere on Monday and Friday and in Applecart's New York City office Tuesday through Thursday.

Compensation:

Our compensation package consists of three components: (i) a base salary, (ii) annual cash bonus, and (iii) generous equity compensation.

The base salary range for this role is between $200,000.00-$250,000.00, based on the candidate's experience and skills relative to the requirements listed in the “Who You Are” section above. The salary range provided is exclusive of a significant amount of compensation that candidates will receive in the form of cash bonus and equity compensation. The salary range provided for this role is specific to candidates located in the New York City area.
