Director of Engineering New Business & Implementation
This position reports to Director of Engineering Operations.
What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the key Engineering Representative and Integrator for Engineering New Business Support across Strategic Business Units (SBUs).
  • Work closely with SBU Business Development Teams to proactively partner and collaborate through Pursuit/Capture/Bid/Proposal stages to ensure competitive solutions.
  • Initiate, structure, and implement a highly responsive, focused, unified, and repeatable approach to support the SBU Business Development Lifecycle and build high-PWin opportunities.
  • Lead the development of an Engineering New Business and pre-ATP Tracker that tracks and addresses Engineering risks and opportunities.
  • Establish metrics and identify opportunities to continually improve and implement effective change as appropriate.
  • Work closely with SBU's, Engineering New Business Leads, Execution Leads, and Operations Managers to ensure a clean handoff to the execution team ins support of a well-informed execution plan.
  • Utilizing a balanced risk posture, lead, and mentor teammates to align and partner with SBUs to sustain and grow the overall Ball Aerospace portfolio while ensuring the resultant captures foster execution excellence.
  • Support the development and implementation of Engineering's strategy organization with focus on new business and early phase execution.
  • For awarded programs, act as a liaison and push forward on means to improve Ball's engineering execution efficiency via consultation during the baseline phase of the program and as-required consultation and support thereafter
  • Support and attend business reviews, recommend financial and nonfinancial strategic objectives and alternatives
  • Evolve and serve as the Chair of the Engineering New Business Integration and Engagement Strategy Forum to coordinate Engineering's response to new pursuits, SCU risk reviews, and cost approvals.
  • Enhance and clearly communicate the strategic importance of pursuits to the broader engineering team; promote and enable a "behave like an owner" mentality across the group.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 15 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Experience in working in business development in the aerospace and defense industry. specifically for early-stage pursuits, RFIs, and proposal development.

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.
Relocation for this position is not available.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $171,000 - $235,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
  • Subject to business and individual performance, and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in a long-term incentive compensation plan.
