About the Role:
The Director of Engineering will lead a team of pre-sales and delivery engineers, growing and developing talent within the organization. This position will be responsible for setting the vision, managing the deliverables of the assigned group, and achieving revenue and expense objectives. Additionally, the Director will resolve customer problems and contribute to customer satisfaction and be responsible for representing the team to all levels of sales and other Company management building strategic executive relationships, where appropriate, to develop best-in-class solutions for customers.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive the presales and delivery component of the region’s business vision, strategy, and direction.
- Collaborate closely with leadership and regional peers along with Engineering Business Unit leadership to assess business plans from a regional presales and delivery support perspective.
- Drive and troubleshoot regional execution to ensure alignment of activities to priorities.
- Collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries to ensure a positive Engineering presence in business decision making and product design.
- Lead and mentor presales and delivery engineering team.
- Manage alignment between sales and presales engineering to form the most efficient team.
- Create and align presales engineering to key partners.
- Provide oversight on delivery projects to ensure completion within budget and customer satisfaction.
- Actively drive industry-leading practices for presales and the development of an efficient, responsive, highly motivated presales workforce.
- Monitor, identify and address delivery team capability gaps and anticipate new skill requirements from changing industry or market
- Track and manage rolling forecasts and budgets to ensure timely and accurate roll-ups.
- Continuously assesses sales pipeline in area of control to ensure appropriate and timely utilization of presales support.
- Align with Project Management leaders to validate project timeline, resource allocation and scope.
- Develop and maintain relationships with 3rd party delivery.
- Maintain training program for engineering.
- Actively support the building of a strong account presence and executive relationships to advance the business partnering and account penetration goals of company sales.
- Collaborate closely with marketing and product engineering to ensure the successful support of new products and technology launches including Proof of Concept lab.
- Ensure alignment between the Company's business strategies/capabilities and the customer's objectives.
- Actively build executive relationships in key accounts to establish the Company's technical credibility, understand the customer's business challenges, and advance the company's account presence or penetration.
- Maintain a resource pipeline for expansion as needed.
- Lead strategy on POC lab.
Qualifications & Interests:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher with a minimum of fifteen (15) + years’ progressive technical experience.
- Solid management experience and track record in motivating and building strong teams; able to influence and inspire commitment.
- Excellent understanding of business environments and challenges of IT operations in an enterprise level corporation.
- Strong financial and business acumen with understanding of a multi-faceted business operation.
- Proven expertise in the development and delivery of accurate and timely weekly, monthly quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
- Ability to think outside the box and develop solutions to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks, while remaining risk and objective focused.
- Ability to approach customer and sales requests with a proactive and consultative manner; listen and understand user requests and needs and effectively deliver.
- Ability to cope with change, make decisions and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty.
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills with an ability to present technical issues to C-Level Executives and non-technical audience.
