The Director of Engineering position will play an active role in the development and completion of projects, meet and report back to upper management, plan and monitor work schedules and engineering performance, and work with multiple and diverse teams. Some responsibilities include aligning engineering activities and projects with company goals and objectives, providing expert guidance and support, approving newly-developed policies from various departments, and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The Director of Engineering will have a wide range of responsibilities:

  • Participate in department and companywide initiatives and help foster a welcoming environment.
  • Nurture Janus' culture of Partnership over Profit, Community, Humility, Curiosity, and Ownership.
  • Think critically and creatively solve problems within the Janus technology suite.
  • Develop long-range plans for future development projects based on the company's overall objectives and resources with an eye towards continuous improvement.
  • Oversee multiple development teams and their projects.
  • Coach and develop Technical Leads.
  • Guide Technical Leads to ensure software development projects meet schedule, cost, and requirement goals.
  • Ensure quality hiring of engineers and coordination of their onboarding.
  • Promote innovation.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with security regulations.
  • Review and update policies relevant to internal systems and equipment.
  • Partner with Product Owners to realize their vision for products that delight Janus' customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant work experience
  • 3-5 years of work experience as a Director of Engineering or in a similar senior-level position in an engineering department of an enterprise firm
  • 7-10 years of experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development
  • 7-10 years of experience with Agile methodologies
  • 5-7 years of experience managing enterprise software projects throughout the product lifecycle from ideation through end of support
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a dynamic and constantly changing environment of an early-stage startup
  • Prior experience in healthcare and revenue cycle highly desirable
